Order of Celebration Thursday, September 13, 2018 10:30 A.M

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)

Oakley Lee Glenn, lovingly called Lee by his siblings, was born to the late John Davis and Velma Glenn, in Macon, MS on February 11, 1948. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized into the fellowship of Little Member M. B. Church. Upon completing his elementary and secondary education at Liddell School in Macon, MS, he would then go on to graduate from the historic Rust College, located in Holly Springs, MS. While on campus he joined the fraternal brotherhood of, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (1968) and went on to become known as a service minded and dependable member throughout the years. When the United States Army called, he answered and served his country with honor and dignity. Oakley was united in holy matrimony to Elizabeth Woods on June 7, 1974. To this union of 44 years, 2 children were born. Upon relocating to Memphis, TN he united with Riverside M. B. Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor O. D. White. He was a faithful member and served diligently as a trustee until his health no longer allowed him to serve. His previous employment included successful years at Universal Life Insurance Company, Atlanta Life Insurance Company and 24 plus, proud years of service with the Shelby County Correction Center, from which he retired. He enjoyed each job, delivered a high level of professionalism, and very seldom missed a day of work. Along with being a great provider to his loving family, special uncle to his nieces and nephews, loyal brother to his siblings, leader, mentor, good neighbor and friend, he was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He proudly displayed his prized 15-point buck, which he introduced to his grandchildren as, “Big Deer. To cherish his memory, he leaves behind a loving wife, one daughter, Tamara (Carvin) Freeman and one son, Nicholas (Tymikia) Glenn; 6 grandchildren: Terrick, Kiersten, Nathanael, Kendall, Jonathan, and Kingston. His older sister, Carrie C. Stennis, preceded him in death. He leaves 6 brothers and 2 sisters: Windell (Elsie) Glenn, Woodrow (Annie) Glenn, Lester (Callie deceased) Glenn, Willie Joe (Katherine) Glenn, Henry (Jerlene) Glenn, Elayne Strawberry, Johnny (Delois) Glenn, and Gladys (Larry) Dotson. 4 brothers-in-law, 6 sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
