Norman Cedric “Bubba” Loggins was born on Wednesday, July 30, 1952, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the second of four children born to the union of Wash and Lillian Loggins. On Thursday, November 9, 2017, Norman made his transition to his permanent home with the Lord.
Norman attended schools in Memphis – Mary Wayne for kindergarten, Hyde Park from the first through eighth grades and graduated from Manassas High School. At Manassas, he was a proud clarinetist in the marching band under the skilled direction of Emerson Able Jr. He went on to attend Tennessee State University where he was a member of the marching band, pledged Omega Psi Phi fraternity and participated in other activities. He graduated in 1974 receiving a bachelor’s degree. His educational path did not end there – he matriculated at the North Carolina Central University where he received a Juris Doctorate (JD) in 1978.
Norman was a highly intelligent, well-educated and complex person with a heart of gold. He loved reading, music, sports and photography but his passion was the law. He especially enjoyed helping those in need using his knowledge of the law. He deeply loved his two sons – Norman II and Jayson born to his union with Janice Carter.
He was preceded in death by his father Wash Loggins, his mother Lillian Marie Loggins and his youngest brother Kevin Earl Loggins. He leaves to mourn his two sons; Norman Cedric Loggins II and Jayson Carter Loggins; two siblings Bettye (Percy) and Wallace, three nieces, Edythe, Amina and Cierra, two nephews, Cory and Cameron, two great nieces, Elani and Jayla, his devoted friend Henry Jamerson and a host of other family and friends. We will miss his talent for telling stories, barbecuing and “talking trash.”
Rest in peace dear brother you have fought the good fight, kept the faith and earned your just reward.
