Life’s Reflections

“Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”

Revelation 2: 10

Nedra

Owens Redditt was born on March 25, 1957, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Anson Owens and Mary Dean Owens. She was baptized at an early age and joined Mt. Pisgah CME Church in the historic Orange Mound community. Nedra was a proud graduate of the Melrose High School Class of 1975, before continuing her education at State Tech, where she earned a degree in Industrial Engineering.

Nedra began her professional career at Memphis Light, Gas, and Water, serving as an Energy Advisor in New Construction. Even in the early stages of her career, she demonstrated a passion for service, education, and community empowerment that would become the foundation of her life’s work.

Driven by a passion for housing equity and economic empowerment, Nedra earned her Tennessee Real Estate License in 1985. She began her real estate career with Watson Anderson Realty, one of the leading Black-owned brokerages in the Whitehaven community. The following year, in 1986, she joined the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB Memphis), beginning a decades-long legacy of advocacy, leadership, and service within the real estate industry.

From the beginning, Nedra understood that homeownership represented more than property ownershipit represented dignity, stability, opportunity, and generational wealth. She became a tireless advocate for dismantling the racial and financial barriers that prevented Black families and underserved communities from accessing housing opportunities. Her unwavering commitment to fair housing, financial literacy, and community development made her a trusted leader throughout Memphis and the Mid-South.

In 1990, Nedra and her husband of over 35 years, Futrell G. Redditt, branded themselves the “Ready Team” and later co-founded Ready Team Realtors, a family-owned real estate firm built on faith, integrity, and service. Guided by the motto, “Therefore my brethren, be ye ALSO READY” (Matthew 24:44), the company became known throughout the community for its dedication to helping buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants navigate residential and commercial real estate with excellence and compassion. Nedra was one of the first black women in commercial real estate at a large real estate firm. In 1997, the Redditts made history by opening the first and only Black-owned and operated RE/MAX International franchise in the Mid-South (earning her a spot in the 100 Percent Club).

A respected industry leader and educator, Nedra served as a Principal Broker and Manager, leading with professionalism, wisdom, and compassion while helping countless families achieve homeownership and financial stability. She maintained an active Tennessee real estate license for more than 40 years and a Mississippi real estate license for more than 20 years, establishing herself as one of the most respected voices in the Mid-South real estate community.

Nedra also became a Certified Instructor through the Tennessee Real Estate Commission, where she trained and mentored aspiring real estate professionals with a focus on ethics, technical knowledge, and community-centered leadership. Her passion for education and professional development led her to help establish PRO Real Estate School, a trusted institution dedicated to providing high-quality pre-licensing and continuing education courses for future real estate professionals. She was also a certified Freddie Mac Credit Smart instructor.

Under her leadership, PRO Real Estate School became known for excellence, integrity, and personalized instruction. Through the school, Nedra empowered countless students to pursue careers in real estate with confidence, professionalism, and purpose. She deeply believed in sharing knowledge and ensuring others had access to opportunities that could change the trajectory of their lives and their families’.

Throughout her distinguished 40-year career, Nedra earned numerous Top Producer honors, Super Producer award, and was a Lifetime member of the Million Dollar Sales Club. Yet, she often said her greatest accomplishments were not the awards themselves, but the lives she impacted through service, mentorship, advocacy, and education.

Her extensive leadership and professional accomplishments reflected her lifelong commitment to excellence, education, mentorship, and advocacy within the real estate industry and the broader community. She served as President of the Women’s Council of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, where she championed initiatives focused on Black homeownership, leadership development, and financial literacy. In recognition of her service and leadership, she was honored as a Women of Excellence Award and Legacy Award recipient by NAREB Memphis in 2025.

Throughout her career, Nedra maintained active memberships with the Memphis Area Association of Realtors (serving as Chairman of the Member Services Committee in 2003), the Tennessee Realtors, Women’s Council of Realtors (earning Member of the Year in 2003), and the National Association of Realtors, where she continuously advocated for equity, education, and advancement within the industry.

Her commitment to housing and community safety extended beyond traditional real estate. She completed certification in Lead-Based Paint Abatement for Contractors through the University of Kansas, expanding her expertise in housing safety and environmental responsibility.

In 2002, Nedra received the prestigious A.W. Willis Award from NAREB Memphis in recognition of her outstanding service and leadership within the real estate profession. In 2004, she was selected from more than 4,100 members of the Memphis Area Association of Realtors to participate in the Tennessee Realtors Leadership Graduate program, a distinguished honor recognizing emerging and influential leaders in the industry.

Nedra was also deeply committed to mentorship and youth development. She served as a Business Liaison for Ridgeway High School’s Business Professionals of America program and dedicated more than six years as a mentor for Tennessee Achieves and Tennessee Promise, helping students pursue higher education and career opportunities while encouraging them to dream bigger for themselves and their communities.

Her passion for empowering future generations extended into nonprofit leadership as she served as Executive Director of From The Ground Up USA, a 501(c)3 organization focused on creating pathways to economic opportunity, entrepreneurship, and career development for young adults and underserved communities.

In 2018, Nedra became a founding member of the Women’s Council of NAREB, where she faithfully served in numerous leadership capacities, including Education Chair, Membership Chair, President of Women’s Council of NAREB Memphis (earning President of the Year for three consecutive years), and executive board leadership roles. Her influence continued to grow nationally as she served as 3rd Vice President of the National Women’s Council of the NAREB Board in 2023, then as 2nd Vice President, and most recently as 1st Vice President.

Nedra’s life’s work was rooted in service, empowerment, and community transformation. She was a fierce advocate for democracy in housing, financial literacy, and economic opportunity for underserved communities. She believed deeply in preparing the next generation of leaders and consistently poured her wisdom, knowledge, and encouragement into aspiring homeowners, entrepreneurs, students, and professionals.

Above all, Nedra will be remembered for her heart. Her compassion, strength, faith, wisdom, and relentless dedication to others made her a pillar in the Memphis community and beyond. She was truly a voice for the voiceless, a champion for her people, and a woman whose legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Nedra gained her wings and went home. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Anderson Owens. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted and loving husband, Futrell G. Redditt; her amazing children, Camille Holmes (Gary), Jada Davis, Dynisha Clark and Futrell L. Redditt; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Dawson, Bria, Brianna, Brittany, Cameron, Cody, Lauren; sisters Pamela Rice (Glenn) and Karen Rice (James); brothers Carlton Owens and Anthonie Owens; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Tribute To My Loving Wife

My beloved wife, my good thing, my everything - you were far more than the love of my life - you were my heart, my joy, my peace, my closest friend, and my greatest blessing. Through every season of life, your love carried me, your strength encouraged me, and your presence made even ordinary days feel extraordinary. Thank you for the countless sacrifices you made so quietly, the prayers you whispered for our family, the laughter we shared, and the unconditional love you gave so freely. You filled our home with warmth and our lives with meaning. There are no words deep enough to express the emptiness I feel without you beside me. Yet even in sorrow, my heart is filled with gratitude for every moment God allowed us to share together. Loving you was one of the greatest honors of my life. Though I can no longer hold your hand, I will forever hold your love in my heart. I see you in every precious memory, every lesson you taught, and every life you touched with your grace and kindness. Until we meet again, know that you will always be loved beyond measure, missed beyond words, and remembered beyond time.

My best friend, my partner, my lover, my CEO, My business partner and wife.

“Thank you Lord for the Love we shared” Your husband, forever and always,n

To my mama-my strength & my life map.

As your first born, your real estate sidekick and gossip partner; I am totally broken-hearted but I can say I feel so blessed to have experienced what real motherly love feels like. Your love for Christ, your community and family wasn’t a secret to anyone that met you! The way you mothered me into a woman of God,service, family and tenacity will be what keeps me going when I feel lost. Since a small girl, I have always watched and admired you not just as my mama but also as a community leader, wife, sister and friend.

The steps I follow from you- I am walking boldly with honor, unapologetically and proud because everything YOU did-it was with purpose, intention and excellence. If nobody else ever cheered for me it didn’t matter because you would everytime. You would tell me on a daily basis that I am got what it takes to do & achieve it all, whatever my heart desires! Do it BIG and LOUD.

As I do this thing called life without you physically here I know there will be unknown paths I will cross one day. Without a doubt I know you have intentionally and strategically prepared me for it all. The love and life you spoke into me on a daily basis is what will carry me from this point on. For that I am grateful and I got it from here

P.S. I already know you up there selling a few mansions right now. You will forever be Mrs. ABC (Always Be Closing)

Love always, Caca

To my bonus mom, Nedra O. Redditt

We came a long way together. Blending families can come with challenges, but I’m so thankful we finally had the chance to truly build our relationship. I will always cherish our talks, your wisdom, and the great advice you shared with me over the years. You became my person at every function. I loved sitting next to you, laughing, talking, and enjoying the moment together. And one thing is for sure, we definitely were not going to win that $1,000 contest if we couldn’t laugh! I’m going to miss you dearly. Our last conversation ended with you saying, “I love you,” and my response was, “I love you too.” Those words will stay with me forever.

Rest well until we meet again.

Love always, Dynisha Redditt Clark

Mama,

What an honor to walk around with your same exact face. “You look just like your mama” has been a recurring theme. So much so that people would see you in me before even knowing who I was. The love and grace you always freely expressed has made it easy for me to love others, and truly see the God in them. Your prayers have lifted me for months and years after you prayed them. Your wit has help keep me on my toes and has given me unexplainable joy and laughter. Your grit and grind were embedded in my genes, which is why when they ask me where I get it from - it’s always you. You were a light that shined bright in every room; and you always reminded me of my own. Everything I have done has been for God’s glory and for your honor. It has been my privilege and honor to serve you.

I will choose you again and again in every lifetime. You always encouraged me to follow my dreams and live life to the fullest. I love you. I promise to make you proud and keep livin’ for a living.

Love, Your mini me, Jada

My grandma was one of the strongest and kindest women I’ve ever known. She always made people feel loved and cared for no matter what. Being her only grandchild made our bond extra special, and I’ll always cherish every moment we shared. She taught me important lessons about love, respect, and staying strong through hard times. Her smile and presence could light up any room she walked into. She was not only an amazing grandmother but also an incredible woman to everyone around her. I’m thankful for all the memories, advice, and love she gave me throughout my life. She will always hold a special place in my heart and will never be forgotten.

Love, Gabrielle

My

My sister was a beautiful Black woman who truly knew her worth. She faced life’s challenges with strength, determination, and grace. One of her greatest accomplishments was pursuing a career in real estate. I will never forget how overjoyed and excited she was when she passed her exam to become a licensed real estate Broker. It happened on my birthday, November 1, 1997 — a day I will always cherish.

I was the very first person she called, and together we screamed, celebrated, and shared that unforgettable moment of happiness. We shared many special memories together, especially our love for Frankie Beverly and Maze. In 1983, she got tickets for us to attend a concert, and we had the most amazing time singing along and enjoying every song together. Those moments remain close to my heart. She was an inspiration not only to our family, but also to the Orange Mound community and the beloved Melrose High School community. Teaching was her passion, and she dedicated herself to uplifting and encouraging everyone whose life she touched. Her wisdom, kindness, and strength left a lasting impact on so many people.

Your memory will never be forgotten. I will always love you.

Your sister Pamela

Now that my big sister has gone home, it takes me back to all the memories of growing up with Nedra. Nedra was one of my older sisters. There were 6 siblings. Nedra was the 3rd oldest.

Nedra was always competitive, from playing sports with the neighborhood boys, she always felt she could do anything a boy/man could accomplish.

Nedra was a REAL BLACK Woman; she was very talented playing the clarinet through high school.

Nedra was a strong alumnus of Melrose High school volunteering and working in the Orange Mound community. Raise 2 beautiful daughters with her husband, Futrell. Nedra had a very distinguished career in the Real Estate Industry. Nedra entered this industry when there was a lot of resistance and acceptance to black people participating. I will miss my sister’s laughter, her straight-forward advice, and the constant encouragement she had for our people. Rest in peace Nedra, your family loves and will miss you!

Love, Carlton

To my beautiful sister Nedra who was my mentor and one of my big sisters. You were a busy, active, caring and giving woman. Nedra was a dedicated entrepreneur with a deep love for her people and a profound commitment to caring for her community. One of her greatest passions was ensuring that everyone had the opportunity for home ownership. She was a loving sister who spent her life helping others, and her impact will be deeply missed.

I will miss your laughs, advice and our road trips. I will truly miss your presence on this his side of the dirt. I will always keep our memories and forever love you for being just you.

Rest my dear sister until I see you again.

Aunt Nedra was more than family—she was a guiding light, a source of warmth, and a steady presence in our lives. Her love was felt in the simplest moments: in her words of encouragement, her laughter that filled a room, and the quiet strength she carried with grace. She had a way of making each of us feel seen, valued, and deeply loved.

We will always remember her kindness, her wisdom, and the way she brought our family together. She taught us the importance of compassion, resilience, and faith through the example she lived every day. Whether through shared stories, family gatherings, or heartfelt conversations, Aunt Nedra created memories that will stay with us forever.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing her legacy lives on in each of us. We carry forward her spirit in how we love one another, how we persevere, and how we cherish family.

Rest peacefully, Aunt Nedra. You will always hold a special place in our hearts, and your love will continue to guide us.

With love always, Your Nieces and Nephews

On behalf of the nieces and nephews, we celebrate our beloved aunt.
