Reflections R emembering M adea

On May 30, 1922, in the great city of Memphis, Tennessee, God blessed the world with a beloved angel by the name of Mary Lou Smith. She was born to her late parents, Mr. Buck and Mrs. Mattie Jones Maklin.

“Madea” as she was affectionately called by many accepted Christ at an early age. She was a longtime and dedicated member of Robinhood Lane Baptist Church, where she participated as a member of the Mother’s Board.

Madea was a gentle lady with a kind heart; however, she stood her ground gracefully if needed. She knew what she wanted and how she wanted it! Some of her past time hobbies included Watching CNN, for she loved to be informed about the world around her. She also loved to solve word puzzles and to spend time with family.

Mary raised seven beautiful children; Josephine Randolph (Theodore), Thelma Taylor, and the late Jessie Jamerson through the union of Joseph Jamerson, also Johnnie Lou Spencer, the late Moses Miller, Jo Ann Smith, and John Earl Smith, Jr. through the union of her late husband, Mr. John Earl Smith, Sr.

On the sunny Saturday afternoon of February 1, 2020, at the Methodist University Hospital, Mary completed her earthly mission. She was called home to be with her heavenly father after 97 beautiful years of being an example of loving, nurturing, providing, and, most importanly, an example of Christ.

She will be truly missed by many, and her memories shall continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

May the life of “Madea” be an example to us all!

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

In Memory of a Dear Grandmother

It’s always sad but comforting to silently recall your smile and dear familar face so loved by one and all For the world may keep turning and changing from day to day byt precious memories of you will never fade away And here’s hoping that this message which carries so much love will somehow find it’s way to you in heaven up above.

It’s to let you know, dear Grandma that, although you ae at rest you’ll live forever in the hearts of those who loved you best.

Love the Grandchildren

Until We Meet Again

A light from our lives has gone

A voice we loved is still.

A place is vacant within our hearts Which never can be filled .

A bauquet of beautiful memories Sprayed with a million tears. I wish God could have spared you If just for a few more years.

We hold you close within our hearts, And there you will remain. To walk with us through out our lives

Until we meet again.

So rest in peace dear loved one And thanks for all you’ve done. We pray that God has given you The crown you’ve truly won.

Your vacant plave no one can fill We miss you now and always will

Lettting Go

The angels gathered near your side

So very close to you

For they knew the pain and suffering

That you were going through

I thought about so many things

As I held tightly to your hand

Oh, how I wished that you were strong And happy once again

But your eyes were looking homeward

To that place beyond the sky

Where Jesus held His outstreached arms

It was time to say good-bye

I struggled with my selfish thoughts

For I wanted you to stay

So we could walk and talk again Like we did...just yesterday

But Jesus knew the anser And I knew you loved Him so So I gave to you life’s greates gift The gift of letting go.
