Reflections of Life
Marguerite Anne Richmond was born on May 13, 1954, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Mack Lee Sr. and Verna M. Williams Lee. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She transitioned from this life on July 4, 2018, at her home in Bartlett, Tennessee.
She began her formative years in kindergarten at the old Mississippi Blvd. Seventh-Day Adventist Church and School which, along with her parents, assisted in shaping her formative years and where she professed a belief in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Longview Heights SDA Church before joining New Covenant SDA Church.
Marguerite was an accomplished Alto Saxophone player in Lincoln Junior High School and Southside High School Marching Band. She was a graduate of Southside High School and LeMoyne-Owen College where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree. At LeMoyne-Owen College, she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In 1973, Marguerite met and married L.A. Richmond, and to this union, five children were born. One child whom preceded her in death Jacqueline L. Richmond; a brother, Mack Lee, Jr. and a sister, Maxine Colbert.
Reflections
Marguerite worked at Internal Revenue Service for several years and was a substitute teacher in the Memphis City School System for many years. She was a foster parent with Youth Villages for several years. She worked for thirty-one years before retiring as a Lieutenant with the Shelby County Sherri’s Department.
She was a fun-loving, compassionate, and giving person. She loved her family and gave her all to her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Louis A. Richmond Jr.; daughters, Mitzi Richmond, Adrienne S. Richmond, Kristina J. Richmond; grandchildren, Jarquez D. Mallory, Jacqueline L. Richmond, Emmanuel L. Meniru, Tajeahia J. Thompson, Tashi S. Richmond, Verna M. Richmond, Alfred Robinson, Louis Richmond, III and Terrence O. Brooks, II; sister, JoLavette Mitchell who passed away on July 10, 2018, Kristina Bledsoe (Carroll) and Virginia (David) Taylor. She leaves her special niece and nephew, Kerri R. PiguesHughes and Vernon L. Dickens. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life.
