Life’s Reflections

Magnolia Pride Gulledge was born on May 12, 1946, and was the second of eight girls to the late Mr. Clarence and Mattie Pride of Nesbit, MS. Both parents preceded her in death.

She dedicated her life to the Lord at an early age. She was a member of Norris Road Church of Christ, where she served on the Usher Board for several years.

She was joined in Matrimony at a young age to Rozell Ward Gulledge, Sr., on March 4, 1963. Born from this union were two sons, Rozell Ward Gulledge, Jr., and Leonard Bernard Gulledge, Sr.

She was employed at Baptist Hospital and retired in 2004. She had a gift of gab, was very outspoken, enjoyed listening to Blues on Saturday, and online Church services on Sunday. She gently asks for the date and time each day, using those moments to keep track of and lovingly remember the birthdays of her family and friends.

One of her most endearing qualities was her sincere appreciation for others. No matter how big or small the gesture, she never failed to express her gratitude with a heartfelt, “Thank you.” Her kindness and gracious spirit made everyone around her feel valued and appreciated.

Magnolia leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Rozell (Sabrina) Gulledge, Jr., and Leonard (Monique) Gulledge, Sr., three grandchildren, Rozell III (Brittany), Kandace, and Leonard (Tavia). Great-grandchildren: Daliyah, Zaylan, Zyan, Khriston, Thriston, Nicholas, Leonard III, and Leah. Extended family: Jermaine and Antonio Avant, Dwight Woods, Jr., Terri (Lashley) Williams, Dwight III, Landon, Logan, and Dwayne E. Woods (deceased). Three sisters: Mattie Pride, Alma (Alfred) Pickens, Katherine (Chester) Wright. Three sisters-in-law: Mary Martin, Bessie Evans, and Elsie Gulledge, and three brothers-in-law: Mitchell Harvelle, Calvin Harris, and Charles Sanders. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Hattie Washington, Cordie Jones, Henrietta Thomas, and Virginia Harvelle. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

“Grandma”

Your hugs felt like home, Your smile brought us peace, And your love filled our hearts, The memories we shared will stay with us forever Though we cannot see you, We know you are watching over us. “Thank You” for loving us so deeply, We love you always,

Recessional

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

II Timothy 4:7-8

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Psalms 23

The Gulledge family would like to “Thank You” for your prayers and for the expressions of love and compassion extended to us. With our deepest gratitude, we thank you for your phone calls and visits; they did not go unnoticed. Special thanks to Pastor Jeffrey Harden and my Noel family. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and keep you now and in the many days to come. “Thank you!”
