Reflections of Life
Louisa Shipp was born to the union of Harry Johnson and Lizzie McDonald on April
10,1928. Both of whom preceded her in death. She was born the 5th of 11 children: Lucy Johnson, Evelena (Dorsey) Cloud, Bobbie Johnson, Carl (Yosh) Johnson, Louvenia (Tite) Johnson, Matrice Wilson (Ben), Harry Johnson, Jr. (Ossie Ree), Rebecca (Becky) Johnson, Laura Johnson, and Jasper Bettis (Eugene); all of whom preceded her in death. She was reared in a loving, warm, and nurturing home in Bailey, TN. Louisa confessed her hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age. Throughout her Christian experience she became a faithful member of New Shelby Baptist Church, then went on to become a faithful member of Pentecostal Baptist Church, then became a faithful member of Christian United Church and served until her passing. Her beautiful voice as a lead soloist soared above the choir like a silver bell. For 35 years, Louisa was a loyal employee of Cleo Wrap gift wrap & packing company. For her commitment to treating the company’s success like her own, she excelled and was promoted to manager. She retired in 1992. To her union with Hugh Green Sr., four beautiful children were born: Hugh Green Jr. (Rozita), Beatrice Prescott (Benny West) (Clinton), Melvin Green (Joyce) (Ann), and Larence Green (June). To her union with Rev. William Shipp; three beautiful children were born: Wayne Shipp (Pauline), Gregory Shipp (Anita), and Jawana Shipp-Everett (Earl). four of the sons preceded her in death. Louisa leaves to cherish her memory: her son Larence, both daughters, Beatrice and Jawana, seven grandchildren: Patrice Woodard (Larone), Tina Green, Demetria Green P., Benvin Green (Dameka), Courtney Shipp (Shametria), William Shipp, and Toneka Allen; along with a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Louisa’s generous and loving heart with a soft demeanor touched the lives of many and will never be forgotten.
