My Maxwell God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be some put his arms around you and whispered “come to me” with tearful eyes I watch you suffer, and saw you slowly Fade Away although I loved you dearly I could not make you stay. a golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands put to rest God broke my heart to prove to me so he only take the best.

passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019, days after reaching the age of 78. After months of failing health, he died peacefully at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN, with his granddaughter Sheri Keeler whom he called his “Black Mama” by his bedside.

Leonard Maxwell Kiner Senior was born on October 7, 1941, in Memphis, TN, to Otis Bogard and Sarah Kiner. He attended and graduated from Memphis public schools.

Leonard was a great family man and a loving father. He married a longtime friend and companion, Hattie Bostic, the couple had five children together, and he helped raise a son from Hattie’s previous relationship.

While the children were still young, they relocated from Memphis, TN to Detroit, MI, where Leonard accepted a job at Faygo Beverages, Inc. He worked for the company for nearly 15 years before retiring, and shortly after, he picked up a part-time job as a cab driver for Checker Transportation. As time went along and his wife of many years received her wings, Leonard decided to move back to his hometown Memphis.

Leonard had a passion for fishing, golfing, and bowling, where he won numerous trophies. He was a strong, proud, and good man who loved to be with his family and friends, that loved him, and he will be missed by many…..!!!

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Hattie Kiner, father Otis Bogard, mother Sarah Kiner, two sisters Augustine Perkins & Pearl lee Franklin, three brothers Eddie Kiner, Aarion Kiner, & John Bogard, and two daughters Jean & Joan Kiner.

The life of Leonard will be cherished and survived by four sons; Gearld Bostic, Darrel Kiner, John Kiner, and Leonard Kiner Jr., thirteen grandchildren; Angel, Sheri, Jolaya, Leonara, Kiara, Leonard III, John Jr, Sylvia, Jarel, Maya, Kayla, Brendan, and Darrel Jr., eleven greatgrandchildren, and a host of beloved relatives and friends.

Remains will not be viewed following eulogy.
