Reflections Life’s Reflections

Leo Thomas was born November 25, 1928, to the late Joe Thomas, Sr. and Levy Thomas.

Leo professed a hope in Christ and joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church (Carnes). Leo was baptized by the late Reverend A. D. Bell. During his membership at Mt. Moriah, he was active in various auxiliaries.

Leo graduated from Melrose High School in 1947. He received a scholarship to Albany State College in Albany, Georgia, where he played football.

Leo met the love of his life, Mrs. Rosa Emma (Doss) Thomas. They were united in marriage on December 27, 1948, and to the union, one child was born, a son, William Lawrence Thomas. Leo worked for the Postal Service for over thirty-five years.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and three brothers. Leo will always be remembered for his cooking, especially those ribs and chicken wings, and for his outspoken words.

To cherish his loving memory, he leaves his loving wife, Mrs. Rosa Thomas, one son, William Lawrence Thomas, two grandsons, Eric (Jonell) Thomas, Jackson, Mississippi and Kenneth Thomas, Orlando, Florida, three great-granddaughters, Mia Thomas, Orlando, Florida, Kayla Thomas, Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Erica Thomas, Jackson, Mississippi, one great-grandson, Josiah Thomas, Jackson, one sisterin-law, Mrs. Glady’s Thomas, Memphis, Tennessee, and a host niece, nephews, cousins and friends, two God-Daughters, Michael Nell Taylor and Phyllis Glass, and one special friend, Barbara Patrick Bowen.

The Day God Took You Home

A million times, I’ve needed you

A million times, I’ve cried.

If love could have saved you

You never would have died.

In life, I loved you dearly

In death, I love you still

In my heart, you hold a place

No one else can ever fill.

It broke my heart to lose you

But you didn’t go alone

Part of me went with you

The day God took you home.

Love Always Your Son
