Mr. Larry Darnell Reed

March 16, 1956 - March 31, 2021

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

II Timothy 4:6-8

Mr. Larry Reed was born on March 16, 1956, in Memphis, Tennesse. He departed this life on March 31, 2021.

Mr. Reed accepted Christ at an early age. He wanted a closer walk with Christ, so he rededicated his life in 2000 at Bloomfield Baptist Church under the late Pastor Ralph White’s leadership. He served faithfully as a choir member, a trusted volunteer for Fishing Rodeo, GOD So Loved Ministry, and other community outreached ministries at Bloomfield Baptist Church.

Mr. Larry Reed attended Ford Road Elementary School. He graduated from Westwood High School. He was employed with VA Medical Center for 30 plus years. He was truly a worker among workers and also held positions with Auto Zone Park, University of Memphis, and was a renowned bartender to the elite.

Mr. Reed loved and cherished his wife and family. He enjoyed vacations and outings with his children and grandchildren. He is adored and loved by his family. He was an avid pool player and enjoyed time with his friends. He was a valuable member of the AA Recovery Community as well. He will be missed by many lives that God used him to touch.

Mr. Larry Reed was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Eula Mae Reed; his father, Mr. L.C. Reed, his daughter, Miss Aria Smith Reed; and four brothers, Vernon Jackson, James Reed, Bradford Reed, and Lonnie Reed.

Mr. Reed leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Bonnie Reed, three daughters, Xavier Reed, Dasha Reed, and Ziara Smith; two sons, Larry Jones and Farris Jones, three grandchildren, Breyhuana Smith, Jaylen Holt, and Arina Pirtle, two sisters, Geneva (Johnnie) Brown and Beverly Dampher, two brothers, Wilfred (Esther) Reed and Marvin (Velma) Reed, a special cousin, Charles Hale, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”
