Reflections of Life Katherine “Gully” Pipkins Allen

was born on February 27, 1950 to Emmaline Watson and DC Pipkins. She transitioned to a better on life on March 1, 2020.

She was the third child of seven, three of whom preceded her in death, Martha Ann Clark, Elizabeth Jackson, and DC Pipkins Jr. She had one son, Anthony Wayne Anderson to also precede her in death.

Katherine confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Highland Heights Church of Christ until her health failed.

She attended Woodstock High School in Millington, TN. She worked 22 years at Broadway and Exline’s Pizza. She retired from Memphis City Schools after 25 years of serving as a cafeteria cook.

Katherine leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter, LaWanda Shaunte’ Allen, her son, John Henry Anderson III; three sisters, Evelyn (Lincoln) Scott, Ether Fleming, and Martha Boyland; her sister-in-law, Stella Mary Sykes, a granddaughter, Kawana Latrice Anderson; a great grandson, Barry Babcock; her dear friend, John Henry Anderson Sr. and a host of family members and friends.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me When tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not here to see, If the sun should rise and find your eyes are filled with tears for me, I wish so much you wouldn’t cry the way you did today, While thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say I know how much you love me, as much as I love you; And each time that you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, That an angel came down and called my name and took me by the hand, I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love.

But as I turn to walk away, a tear fell from my eye.

I had so much to live for, and yet so much to do.

It seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad, I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had, So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, For every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.
