The
We cried when you passed away, We still cry today.
Although we loved you dearly, We couldn’t make you stay. Your golden heart stopped beating. Your hard-working hands are at rest. God broke our heart to prove to us, He only takes the best. From your Kids
We didn’t know that day, God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, In death, we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone. For part of us went with you, The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide. And although we cannot see you, You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.

~Expressions of Gratitude ~
Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair.
Perhaps you sent those beautiful flowers, that we saw sitting there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say.
Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts we thank you so much for whatever part.

Reflections Reflections of Life
Jerome Eugene Washington was born in Memphis Tennessee on January 21, 1962 to the late Elizabeth Washington and Albert Scruggs, Sr.

As a child, he gave his life to Christ and attended Olivet Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the Kenneth T. Whalum, Sr. He exhibited the love of God throughout his life in his actions, as he was always a very loving and caring soul. He was a big teddy bear who comforted whoever was in need.
As a provider and protector, he decided to share his protective nature with an extensive career in security. He would find, later in life, a way to continue protecting the most vulnerable as a home healthcare provider. Jerome was a hard-working man who loved listening to music, driving, watching old movies, laughing, and eating good food. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever was in need. He was loved and respected by all. He would always say, “Live the life you love and love the life you live”.
On July 17th, 2020, God called his angel home. He fought a long fight here on Earth but God had other plans. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Washington and Albert Scruggs, Sr., his brother Joseph Kirk, Sr, and his son, Jerome (Duke) Brantley.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his children Darius (Tijuana) Washington, Rhovonda (Charles) Spencer, Melanie Washington, and Adrain Banks; his beloved fiancé, Julia Walker; three brothers Odell Nickerberry, Anthony Scruggs, and Albert Scruggs Jr, and; three sisters Brenda Nickerberry, Regina Washington, and Tammy Scruggs; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews, and many friends.
