Mr. James Willie “Peter” or “Pete” Morris, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at 5:10 am. He was born September 11, 1937, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Mr. Ben William Morris and Mary Lee Morris, who preceded him in death. James attended Douglass High School, where he was a member of the football team. James was married to Coszetta Gipson Morris until her passing. James retired in 2006 as a machinist for Georgia-Pacific.

Peter will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his keen sense of humor, contagious laughter, and generous nature. His hobbies included golfing and traveling. Peter enjoyed spending time with close friends and family. After Peter retired, he continued his love of traveling, often accompanied by his eldest son, Otto Moore.

To cherish his memory, James leaves behind eight children: Otto Moore, Donovan Moore, Will Morris, Brenda Eggleston, Gertrude Osborne (Carlton), Ann Morris, Marie Jones (Christopher) and John Morris. He also leaves behind one brother, John Jackson (Blossie); thirteen grandchildren: Makitra Moore, Brittanay Moore, Jameka Moore-Hearn, Barrianna White, Lakisha Morris, William K. Presley II, Joycelyn Presley, Christopher Osborne, Langston Osborne, Austin Osborne, Kirsten Jones, Caleb Jones, and Jonisia Morris; eight great-grandchildren: Jayden Braswell, Kortnie Dockery, Kodie Dockery, Ashlee Marshall, Taylor Marshall, Tyler K. Presley, Cameron P. Guy, and Havenleigh Presley and a host of other relatives and friends.
