Life’s Reflections

G regory Lynn Strong was born on June 10, 1957, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Luby Henry Strong Sr. and Mary Malissa Strong. Gregory, affectionately known as “Greg,” was a proud graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1975. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he worked side-by-side with his uncle, Alonzo. During this time, Greg learned the trade of small appliance repair, developing skills that stayed with him throughout his life. Greg was outgoing and full of life, yet he also had a quiet, mild-mannered, and observant nature. He was the kind of person who could enjoy the company of others while quietly taking in everything around him. His warm spirit and welcoming personality naturally drew people to him. Greg enjoyed the simple things in life. Some of his favorite pastimes included fixing things, listening to music, and grilling. And when it came to the grill, there was no convincing Greg that he wasn’t the king of grilling. It was a title he proudly claimed and one his family and friends knew all too well. Above all, Greg loved his family and friends deeply, and they loved him just as much. He had a special way of making people feel comfortable, welcomed, and at home in his presence. The love he shared and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Luby Henry Strong Sr. and Mary Malissa Strong; his brother, Fred Strong; and his sisters, Jocelyn Dickerson and Vicki Strong. Greg leaves to cherish his memory his former wife, Pam Strong; his children, Christine Strong and Greg C. Strong; his grandchildren, Camryn Corley and King Strong; his siblings, Luby Strong Jr. (“Bay-bruh”), Gwendolyn Strong (“Patsy”), and Gail Gant; along with a host of other relatives and dear friends. Though Greg will be deeply missed, his love, his spirit, his laughter, and the many memories he created will continue to live on through everyone whose life he touched. lol

LTributes oving

Daddy, I love you and I will miss you so much. I never took the bond that we had for granted. There are so many things I will miss but the early morning and sometimes late evening conversations are at the top of my list. Just in these few days of you being gone, it has been difficult not picking up the phone and talking to you. I hate this happened so soon but I know you are at peace and no longer suffering or in pain. Until we meet again - your Son Happiness, joy, and gratefulness are just a few emotions your presence brought into your grandchildren’s and I lives that we thank you for. We also thank you for the tremendous strength it took for you to guide us, that you so effortlessly gave. There isn’t a word I can think of that will describe how life will be without you. We love you forever and always and will always remember you as we continue life without you. Your calls, your guidance, and even your fussing will be missed but more importantly, those will guide us and keep us safe and together as that is something we know worried you. We promise to remain great people, no matter what crosses our paths and to look amazing while we do it because remaining fly was always you. If I could do anything just like you, it would be to help others. You never minded helping and it was like second nature for you. One of my favorite life moments I shared with you was having the opportunity to work together. I got a chance to see how your skills helped run a fortune 500 company. Your knowledge and organization allowed everything to run so smoothly - think it’s safe to say he had the ability to do that at work and at home with the family. The way you swayed through the building with your head held high used to give me strength. I was so proud to say “that’s my dad right thereBut dad, to be honest there is nothing in this world”. There is nothing yoou could have did to prepare me for not receiving those 7am calls anymore, I really still need you. We love love love you and patiently wait for your visits in our dreams - Your Daughter and Grandchildren
