life Reflections

Mr. Glenn Laron Conner, affectionately known as a loving father, devoted family man, and man of God, was born on November 8, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri. He peacefully transitioned from this life on March 14, 2026.

Glenn later moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he was raised and educated. He graduated from White Station High School, where he made history as the first Black drill commander, and became a member of Mount Moriah East Baptist Church, where his faith and love for God were evident.

Glenn was a hardworking and dedicated man who took pride in providing for his family. He was employed with the Memphis Housing Authority, where he faithfully served as a Lead Foreman for over 18 years. His leadership and work ethic left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Beyond his career, Glenn had a deep love for comedy. He performed locally, including at Chuckles Comedy Club in Memphis, where he became known for his humor and ability to bring laughter to any room. He was recognized and respected by fellow comedians, and those who knew him understood that laughter was a natural part of his presence. Glenn loved to joke, uplift others, and keep spirits high— his joy was found in making others smile.

After retirement, he often reflected on the importance of enjoying life and doing what you love. Even during his final days, he shared moments of clarity and reflection that reminded his family of his strength and spirit.

He also had a love for sports and good food, and although he never cared much for seafood, he enjoyed meals that brought family together.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vernice Conner; his father, Louis C. Mayes; and his siblings: Jerome Conner, Glory Jean Conner, Jeffrey Conner, George Conner, Geraldine Conner-Foston, and James Conner and stepson

Glenn leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife:Tara Denise Conner his beloved children, Glenda Tiketa Conner and Glenn Laron Conner Jr.(Janice Conner);, and his stepchildren: Porshia Hicks, Travis Long, Shawnveccheo Swain, Ameka Coffer(Marcus Coffer), and Shameka Walker(Brian Walker). He also leaves behind his siblings: Gary Conner, Janice Conner, Jacqueline Conner and Grace Mayes; his mother in-law Chestine Clayton and sister in-law Temeka Webb and brother in-law Theodis Webb along with a host of grandchildren, extended family, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

A Daughter’s Tribute

My loving Father, the most dependable man I’ve ever known— one who understood order and how to lead a solid home. There was nothing I could ask for that you didn’t strive to provide. You raised us to stand on our own and go forward when you were no longer by our side. I appreciate the man you were in spirit, body, and soul. Even in your weakness, you never wanted to let it show. If it were up to me, I would have never wanted to see your last day. But I’m so grateful to God that He allowed us to come together before the end… and pray. Just writing these words on paper, there is still so much more to say. The love and bond that we share is OVERstood by ALL unbreakable in every way.

No force, no darkness, no demon in hell could ever tear us apart. No matter what we went through I know I always had your Heart. Thank you, Daddy, for coming to me in my dream. Even in heaven, you still came to to comfort me.

These past nights, I’ve cried myself to sleep. And when you came to visit, you gave me inner peace. You didn’t say a word, and you didn’t have to. I knew why you came, and I know exactly what you want me to do. I love you, Dad— a true, true father. Your love, your legacy, and your strength live on forever. Thank you for raising royalty. With AGAPE love, Your daughter,

Glenda

Forever In My Heart

Remembering you is easy, I do it every day.

But missing you is a heartache that will never go away.

The moment that you left me, my heart split in two— one side filled with memories, and the other half died with you.

Many days will be weary, many days will be blue.

I’ll think of you and all the memories I’ll forever have with you.

Forever in my heart.

Love, Your Wife,

More Than A Step

You came into our lives one day, not by blood, but by heart. You always showed up when needed most, for quiet talks and silly jokes. You showed us kindness, laughter, and care, and proved that family is the bond we share. You were never just a step you were our dad. With love, Porshia, Travis, Charles (Deceased) Shawn, Ameka & Shameka
