Life’s Reflections

Gladys M. Johnson was born April 10, 1927, in Lula, Mississippi, to the late Eugene and Glendora Haynes of Lula, Mississippi.

Mother Gladys accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She loved Christ and became a member of New Friendship Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother Board, Usher, and Faithful Sunday School attendee and took great pride in preparing communion every second Sunday.

Gladys displayed Christ’s love and kindness to everyone she met and instilled those same values in her children. Even as her children became adults, she instilled Christ’s values in them. We are so blessed to have had a mother who was so humble. We thank you, Mama, for teaching us how to lean and depend on Jesus for ourselves and to thank God for everything He has done, no matter what obstacles occur in our lives.

Two children preceded her in death, Oliver and Helen Johnson. Her life, love, and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of her four remaining children, Edward, Louise, Ronald (Triciay), Eugene Johnson, and six grandchildren, Karen Thiam, Kendra Oliver, Marcus Johnson, Adrian Johnson, Millicent Johnson, Ashton Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, six great-grandchildren, Diarra, A’Jewel, Mariah, Adrienne, Promise, Zion, Avery Johnson and a host of nephews, nieces, and special long time friends, Earnestine Edwards, Jeanette “Tootsie” Britton Jefferson.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

God gave me a treasure that was a gift worth more than gold. It’s a love that grew more precious as time unfolded. That blessing was you. GOD gifted me with a second mama, someone beautiful to share my faith & my life.

I will forever miss our talks and I will never forget your loving spirit. Thank you for welcoming me into your family. And Sharing your love. Your Daughter In Law Patricia.

If Roses Grow in Heaven

If Roses grow in Heaven Lord, please pick a bunch for me. Place them in my Mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me.

Tell her that I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while.

Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there’s an ache within my heart that will never go away.

I’m very thankful and blessed for my mother! She provided much love and happiness! A blessing to us all!

Missing You Momma,

I miss your smiles, laughter and the sound of your voice. I miss you so much, but I know you are much better. Momma I love you and you will forever be in my heart.

In rememberence of my loving grandmother, Gladys Mae Johnson. A comfort to many and a joy to all, most of her time was spent taking care of her family, her friends, and her community. May she rest in heaven and forever in our hearts.

Love Louise

Hey Grandma, from your favorite grandson I just wanna tell you that I love you. My wife loves you and your great granddaughter. Will know all about you and how you helped raise us and mold us.

Love you forever your favorite Ashton

Dear grandmother, thank you for showing me how to walk by faith and not by sight. I love you!

If there ever was a woman, who spoke many words without a mere whisper it would be My Grandma Gladys. To me she was the heartbeat of our family. She was so kind and her resilience served as the blueprint that I’ve followed. Her laughter and smiles are just a few I will truly miss the most. BUT Your memory will be a cherished treasure that I will forever hold in my heart.”

HER OLDEST GRAND DAUGHTER KAREN DENISE
