everything, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, which for Floyd Evans, Sr. was, Sunday, February 26, 1950, and a time to die, so the Lord called him home on Sunday, March 26, 2017.

Floyd Evans, Sr. was born in Memphis, TN to the late Alberta James and Pless Hollimon. He was a proud graduate of the class of 1969 Geeter High School Dragons. Floyd retired his truck driving keys from Central Woodwork. He wore black, white, and silver in support of his favorite team, the Raiders. Floyd was known for loving fast cars, Corvettes, and Camaros.

He accepted Christ at an early age at New Jerusalem Baptist Church and later united with Empowerment Christian Center under the leadership of Pastor Anthony L. Morris where he served for a while as a Spiritual Leader.

In 1983, Floyd, said ‘I do’ to the love of his life and the woman who would be by his side until God called him home, Sandra Kay Whiting Evans.

He leaves three sons to carry on his legacy, Andre Turner Evans (Patricia), Lionel Turner (Love), and his namesake Floyd Evans, Jr. (Kalisha). Floyd reared four of his grandchildren in his very own home: Floyd Evans III, Tyler Evans, Justin Evans, and Jamon Evans. He leaves to cherish his memory eighteen additional grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Floyd Evans also leaves so many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly including two sisters: Linda Faye Evans, and Evelyn Sykes (Robert); seven sisters-in-law: Virgie Golden, Vera Cheers (Raymond), Sylvia Adams (Tyrone), Teresa Yancy, Pamela Robinson, Lori Tuggle (Melvin) and Shelia Whiting; three brothers-in-law: George Smith, Wesley Smith, Clarence Whiting (Myra); two stepbrothers, Thomas James (Lucille) and Charles James (Lucille), a special sister: Ruth Hibler (David); Goddaughters: Angie Harrison (Rodney), Sharon Jones (Ray), Deneen Burton (Aldric), Cameron McClelland, and Carmen McClelland; Godsons Demicus Green (Tori), Demarious Green, Carlton McClelland, and Bryon Allen; special friend Roxie Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There is a heavenly family reunion and Floyd has joined the party! Not only has he reunited with his mother and father but he has also joined his sisters Bessie Richardson and Ruth Jean Lizar and his brothers Willie James Evans, Herman Evans, and Terry James. Floyd has also reunited with his grandson Jermel Evans.

Floyd will be truly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on through and through.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal Love leaves a memory no one can steal Floyd, I’m going to miss your text messages telling me How much you love me every day.

I’m going to miss you running my bath water every morning.

I’m going to miss you coming to the door to greet me with a kiss when I get home from work.

I’m going to miss all of the talks about what we’re going to do when I retire and how just last week you said you loved me so much and you wanted to spend another 34 years with me because you loved that much.

Just as you loved me, I loved you even more.

Your memory will never be stolen from me.
