Mitchell was born in Eastover, South Carolina, on December 10, 1947, to Jessie White and Vernell Norwood.
She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, TN.
Eartha later married Larry Mitchell Sr. on February 14, 1966. To this union, five children were born. She devoted much of her time and energy to caring for her family and enjoyed sewing and cooking. She accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age. She joined the Power of Prayer Ministry, where she served as a faithful member.
Eartha departed this life on Wednesday August 13, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents and only brother. Eartha leaves to cherish her memory, husband Larry Mitchell Sr., three sons, Dennis Mitchell (Rochelle), DerrickMitchell, Larry Mitchell II (Marquita) all of Memphis, TN; two daughters, Denise Hurt of Woodbridge, VA and Linda Mitchell of Memphis, TN; three sisters, Sharon Bobo (Derey), Loretta Goolsby, and Margaret White; brother, Nathaniel McDowell, fourteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family and friends.
