Nubia was born on September 26, 1946, the sixth daughter of Noble and Esteen Nubia. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, then received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Ga., and a Master’s Degree from the University of Memphis. Catherine was a teacher of Special Education with the Memphis City Shelby County Schools until she retired. She was a devout Catholic.

Catherine was surrounded with love by her sister Shirley Nubia Ellis and nephew Fred Jacob as she transitioned from her earthly life on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Esteen, as well as her sisters and brothers-inlove, June & Bennie Donelson, Joan & Reuben Farmer, Noblean & Fred Jacob, Dorothy & James Sweeting, and Margaret Nubia Porter Brake.

Catherine leaves to cherish precious memories her sister, Shirley Nubia Ellis (Jimmie), best friends Jeanne Ricard (more like a sister), Mimi Sneed and Gina Ricard, her Godchildren Jennifer Sneed, Carole Spearman, Aminah Sigler and Emily Warner along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbors.
