rodie Stanley Moore-lovingly known to all of us as “Boogaloo”— brought a whole lot of light and laughter into this world right from the start. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 2, 1966, to Jessie Ann and Brodie Moore, he was the baby of the family, the youngest of six children, and he definitely carried that vibrant energy with him everywhere he went. If you knew Brodie even a little bit, you knew he was outgoing, full of life, and loved to show off his dance moveswhich is proudly how he earned that iconic nickname. Growing up, he walked the halls of Alonzo Locke Elementary and graduated from Central High School before heading off to Tennessee State University in Nashville. Brodie truly had a spirit like no other. If he wasn’t passionately arguing with his uncles and brothers about sports and politics, you could find him pulling on his favorite cowboy boots, throwing on a Ralph Lauren polo shirt, and heading down to Beale Street. He was a true people person who naturally gravitated toward anyone and everyone. At heart, he was an entrepreneur who found his greatest joy in entertaining his friends and family. Whether he was cheering on his favorite basketball and football teams or hosting legendary Super Bowl parties, he was always at his best when he was surrounded by community. On September 1, 2026, Brodie transitioned at Baptist Hospital following post-operative complications. Though he was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Ann, his father, Brodie, and his brothers Dwight and Roby, and sister Pamela, his memory lives on. He leaves behind his brothers Wendell and Robert, alongside a large, loving community of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who will miss him deeply.

“Thank you all so much for being here today to celebrate me. Having you all gathered here means more to me than words can say. To be completely honest, the past couple of years have been a real battle, but every single call, text, and visit-even when I didn’t always have the energy to respond-meant the absolute world to me. Please, don’t dwell on the hard times; instead, remember me as I was in my prime and during my happiest moments, surrounded by the people I loved most.”
