Betty Jean Green Dugger

“Trust in the Lord and do good: dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Betty Jean Green Dugger was Entrusted by God with the gift of Nutrition Service Management and dietetics and serving God’s people. She delighted in singing and sharing the wonderful news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and encouraging Everyone she came in contact with. Since her birth on April 4, 1936, in Batesville (Pope), Mississippi, she was destined to be a Godly woman, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a woman after God’s own heart!

On June 14, 1952, she married Rev. Willie B. Dugger. To this union, three sons and three daughters were born. Willie Dugger, Jr. preceded her in death. Her foundation in Christ began with her father’s teachings, Bennie Farris Green, which led to a life of service in ministry as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Administrator, a Pastor’s wife, Mother Board President, and Mifa Food Pantry President.

In addition to her commitment to the ministry, she was also a devoted family woman. She maintained a career as a Nutrition Dietitian for thirty years in the Memphis City Schools systems. She later retired from Airways 1996. Even in her professional role, she impacted the lives of many with the light that God placed inside of her. Many have been blessed throughout her lifetime by her gifts of wisdom, knowledge, and discernment. The void that is left by her passing is sustained by a legacy of love, strength, and the light of God.

To cherish her memories, she leaves a loving husband, Rev. Willie B. Dugger, three loving daughters, Vanessa Dugger Shipp, Minister Loretta Dugger (Minister Fermon) McDavid, Pamela Dugger (Lester) Magee, two sons, Stevie Dugger, and Elder Larry T. Dugger; two Brothers, Dr. Joe L. (Alva) Green, John W. (Vicki) Green, both of Detroit Michigan; two sisters, Eva M. Smith, and Lillie B. West all of Detroit, Michigan; five grandchildren, LaVora (Vincent, Sr.) Robinson, Barance (Latasha) Walker, Gwangi (Cheryl`) Shipp, Alnekea Thomas, Elliott R. Dugger; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousin, and friends.

The Lord
