Beatrice E. Hearns, on March 18, 1923, God blessed the world and the city of Lake Providence, Louisiana with an angel by the name of Beatrice E. Hearns. She is the daughter of the late Willie Dora Ailes and the late Samuel Ailes.
At an early age, Beatrice accepted the care of Christ, the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the love of God to be with her always. Upon moving to Memphis, Tennessee, she joined in fellowship and as a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Carnes Ave - in the historical neighborhood of Orange Mound.
The life and the beautiful spirit of Beatrice was a blessing to many that she encountered. Her journey in life guided her to the Porter Leath Children’s Center, where she participated as a foster grandparent to children.
Beatrice was also one of the first black registered nurses in the State of Tennessee. She worked at the West Tennessee Tuberculosis Hospital for many years on Jefferson Avenue in Memphis. Her beautiful attire of white uniforms flowed hand in hand with her life and passion for others; pure and genuine.
On Saturday, May 18, 2019, Beatrice’s earthly mission was completed and she was called home by her Heavenly Father to the grand reunion. She is reunited with her parents; Willie and Samuel Ailes, siblings, Lessie Jackson, Earl Ailes, Wilton Ailes, Margaret Smith, Jeanette McMillian, Gretha Jones and Kermitt Coleman and son, Terry Hearns.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Milton Williams (Geneva) and Darryl Hearns, six grandchildren; Austin, Aresia, Micheal, Renee and Ian, and special nephews, Carl “Wayne” Everfield and Rev. Roosevelt Everfied, Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
