There are no words that can explain the hurt and pain you feel when you lose a child. I will always cherish the memories of the time spent together.
NaNa, you were so special to me and our family. You were a wonderful daughter, who was loving and kind, funny and crazy, and good-natured.
NaNa touched everyone who knew her! I feel so blessed to have had you in my life. Although I cannot imagine a world without NaNa in it, rest now, my sweet daughter! I love you, and I am going to miss you dearly.

Reflections of Life
Angela, known to most as NaNa, was born November 5, 1964, to Willie Ann Townsel and the late Sylvester Townsel in Memphis, TN. She transitioned on October 15, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones.
At the young age of nine, she accepted Christ under the leadership of her uncle, the late Rev. James E. Smith, Sr., at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was very active in church with the youth department, being a member of the Red Circle and singing in the choir.
Angela graduated from Hillcrest High School’s class of 1983 here in Memphis, TN. Following high school, she decided to further her education at Shelby State Community College; however, life pushed her in a different direction, leading Angela to work for the Shelby County Government, OZ Gedney, and several family businesses over the years.
Angela’s uproarious, affectionate, and infectious personality forced her to be the center of attention, and it brought all of her family and friends some unforgettable moments. “Everybody knows NaNa,” a phrase she often said, and it was nothing short of the truth.
Angela shared cherished memories with her father, Sylvester Townsel (2010), and sister, Linda Lorraine Townsel-Taylor (2005), who preceded her in death. She is survived by her beloved mother, Willie Ann Townsel, and her siblings, Charlotte Townsel, Mea Ingram, Jamie Wells, Steve Groves, Jaurita Polk (Sean Polk), and Sylvia Lawson.
To carry on her legacy, Angela leaves her treasured daughters, Amber Townsel and Arkela Townsel, her granddaughter, Logan Edwards, her aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, and friends—old and new.
