Reflections Remembering

Anderson M. Thopmson, Sr.

Anderson Murl Thompson Sr. was born on September 6th, 1949 to the late Lerline Thompson and Willie Byrd in Memphis, Tennessee. Anderson professed his love for our Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. Anderson received his diploma from Booker T. Washington High School and also went on to further his education at Draughons Junior College in the 1980s. Anderson served his country in the United States Armed Forces where he was honorably discharged in 1969 and fought in the Korean War. He worked many years for the United States Postal Service as a mail clerk.

He also worked as a distribution clerk for PFS Web until his retirement in 2009. Anderson enjoyed reading, watching sports, collecting clocks and spending time with his grandchildren. He departed from this world and into the arms of his loving Father on September 1, 2018. Anderson leaves behind to cherish his memories, his beloved wife of 36 years Sherry Thompson. He leaves behind four children, Anderson Murl Thompson Jr. (Latasha), Inglesh Michelle Thompson, Sierra Georgene Thompson, and Camille Reshun Thompson. His daughter Toriana Thompson preceded him in death. He leaves seven brothers, Charles Thompson (Jennifer), Wallace Thompson, Richard Byrd (Juanita), Ernest Byrd (Elnora), Herman Byrd, Therman Byrd, Thomas Byrd and two sisters who preceded him in death, Gwendolyn Shaw, and Louvonzell Thompson. Anderson also leaves behind five grandchildren, Randy Thompson, Rodney McKinley, Jr., Justin Thompson, Xavion Thompson, and Autumn Boyd. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

We miss you As we cling to the memories of you that you’ve left behind We’re reminded of your strength and courage So many things we will miss Yet we find some comfort in knowing we will see you again We know you’ll be there to dry our tears The hardest thing is saying Good-bye and there aren’t enough words to say how much you will be missed.
