The title is inspired by Julius Eastman's concept of "organic music." Eastman attempted to create a form in which the first two parts of a work were separate material while the third part is composed of the first two parts stacked on top of one another. While this work is not a full realization of this form (a form that not even Eastman ever fully realized in his own work), it is meant to be a cumulation of the ideas within cairns one and two. Nevertheless, this piece should be able to stand on its own.
