a sustainable void The site is home to an immense chloride plume which formed over decades of salt stor-

age on the site. Historically toxic soil is treated off site and the void is then filled with clean soil. This approach aims to clean the soil on site and use the void as the visitors center as well as a settling pond for all the site’s waste water, which is subsequently treated on site. This approach brings visitors closer to the reality and consequences of their choices.
