SCHOLARSHIP

The YMCA does not turn anyone away due to the inability to pay. Financial assistance is available for membership and programs to those who qualify.

SOCCER

September 3 - October 3

Soccer is the most popular ball game in numbers of participants and spectators in the world. Learn fundamentals of dribbling, passing, offense, defense, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Lil Kickers | Ages 3-5

Wednesday, 5:30 – 6:15 p.m.

Each session includes drills and games and scrimmage.

Cost: Members: $50 | Non-Members: $75

Grades K-2

Practices | Tuesdays, 5:15 – 6:00 p.m. Games | Thursdays, 5:15 – 7:30 p.m.

Grades 3-5

FLAG FOOTBALL

October 7 – November 16

Flag Football players learn the fundamentals of football, including passing, catching, and kicking, along with defense and offensive strategies. Practices and games emphasize good sportsmanship and teamwork.

BASKETBALL

November 12 - December 21

YMCA Youth Basketball focuses on developing fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Willmar area children will have a blast as they build confidence, make friends, and learn the game they love at the YMCA!

Lil Dribblers | Ages 3-5

Tuesdays, 5:15 – 6:00 p.m.

Each session includes drills and games and scrimmage.

VOLLEYBALL

October 10 - November 7

Volleyball was created by Willam G. Morgan, a YMCA physical education director, in 1895. In Y Youth Volleyball, players learn the skills of passing, setting, spiking, serving and the rules of the game, including offense, defense, teamwork and sportsmanship.

YOUTH PROGRAMS 4

3V3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

December 15 | 12:00 p.m.

This is a co-ed tournament. Teams can be made of 3-5 people, all men, all women, or a mixture of both.

TEEN NIGHTS

Join us at the YMCA for a fun-filled Teen Night! This night is for youth in grades 6-8 grade. Open swim and open gym time will be available along with other activities. Pizza and snacks will be available for purchase.

YMCA

YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT

October 10 -November 7

Youth in Government (YIG) offers an unparalleled opportunity for students in grades 8-12 to dive deep into the workings of government through an immersive four-day program. Participants will engage in focused discussions on current issues, partake in exciting social events and evening activities, and develop leadership skills through hands-on experiences. High school students can choose to serve as legislators, judges, attorneys, lobbyists, media representatives, or cabinet members, while 8th graders explore all areas through the Leadership Corps. The program culminates in a dynamic conference in early January, held at the Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis and the Minnesota State Capitol, where delegates from Minnesota and Western Wisconsin come together. Join YIG to make new friends, enhance your understanding of government, and become a leader in your community!

HOMESCHOOL P.E.

Fulfill Physical Education requirements in a fun, safe, and cost-efficient setting. Develop teamwork abilities, peer interaction, motor skills, and coordination while emphasizing our four core values. This program will introduce football, soccer, basketball, and volleyball.

YOUTH PROGRAMS 5 EVENTS

TURKEY

LEG 5K November 28 8:00 a.m.

Join us for a fun start to your Thanksgiving, at the Turkey Leg 5K! This race is a 3.1 mile asphalt roadside race around Willmar streets. Walkers are welcome! Largest Family Group wins a medal. Don’t forget to get your Thanksgiving costumes on, as the best dressed will receive an award.

Cost: $25

Race Entry Includes

Race T-shirt (guaranteed if registered by November 19th)

Snack and beverage at the end of the race

BIRTHDAY PARTIES Party times

Saturdays: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Sundays: 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Parties include use of facility for two hours. Time is usually allocated to 60 minutes in our Aquatics Area, 30 minutes of activities in our gym, and 30 minutes in the party room for food and presents. These may be utilized in different time increments if desired.

Proper swim suit and towel are required for pool use. Aquatic age guidelines must be adhered to.

One adult in the water within arms reach for every four children age 7 and younger.

A Healthy Aging Program for people ages 55+

Today’s 55+ adults are more health-conscious than ever before. The Y offers opportunities to maintain a healthy lifestyle and healthy relationships. Exercise programs, both in and out of the water, pickleball, speakers, trips, and volunteer opportunities are available. Our goal is to promote well-being while fostering friendship and camaraderie.

TEEN ORIENTATIONS

Active Teens

Teens can learn to properly use equipment in the fitness center while keeping themselves and others safe.

• Eligible to participate at age 12

• FREE program for teens

• Must be completed before independent use of upstairs wellness center.

Strong Teens

Strong Teens is a free program that orients teens to weight lifting in the downstairs free weight area by teaching proper form to prevent injury and breathing techniques. The Strong Teens program must be completed by teens who are 16 or 17 years of age prior to independent use of the weight room.

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATIONS

This free program is designed as a fitness orientation for individuals who have never worked out before, need a re-introduction to fitness. Y staff will walk through all the basics of cardio and weight equipment in the Fitness Center with Y staff to ensure safe and proper use.

EARLY LEARNING CENTERS

The Kandiyohi County Area Family YMCA Early Learning Center is COMMITTED TO QUALITY and is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children ages 6 weeks through 5 years old or kindergarten eligible. We provide experiences that enhance and enrich each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical, and creative development. Within the center’s daily schedule, each child has opportunities to create, to explore the environment, to develop problem solving and personal interaction skills, and to develop concepts through experiences.

SCHOOL

AGE CHILD CARE

SACC provides child care designed for school-aged children. These programs offer a fun and enriching environment where your child can engage in group games, which help in teaching social skills and fostering friendships, as well as independent homework time to instill time management skills and the value of hard work.

Monday - Friday every week during the school year. 6:45 a.m.-8:30 a.m.

For kids in grades K-5 from Lakeland, Roosevelt, CCS, Kennedy, ACGC, and NLS.

After School Care

Monday - Friday every week during the school year. 3:00 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.

Kids will be picked up from their school and brought to the Y, children are provided a snack when they arrive at the Y in the PM. We offer school pick up and drop off for Willmar schools only. We do not do house pick ups/drop offs.

School’s Day Out

CHILD CARE & CHILD WATCH

What’s better than spending a little time with young children each week? In this role, you would join a team member to play with and provide care in our Child Watch room. We are looking for people with childcare experience who would appreciate the reward of helping children.

DAY CAMP GARDEN

If you love working outdoors and have a passion for gardening, this is the perfect opportunity fro you. You’ll be responsible for caring for and maintaining the garden, ensuring it remains a vibrant and educational space for our campers.

FRONT DESK

The Y is the front porch of our community and we’re looking for people who want to help their neighbors. In this position, you’ll get to know our members and guests, assist with questions or requests, and provide excellent customer service

MAINTENANCE / GROUNDS

A quality member experience at the Y begins with maintaining a healthy environment. This is accomplished through consistent cleaning and maintenance of the facility and equipment. We’re looking for people with maintenance skills, an interest in general deep cleaning, and more.

YOUTH SPORTS

We’re looking for people who enjoy working with kids, have sport-specific knowledge, and can be a role model for sportsmanship and fair play. We do all the heavy lifting so you can have a rewarding coaching experience!
