Jenny’s 2020 solo exhibition, BREATHE, is a joy filled collection of works produced in a strange time. Jenny’s painting has always been about breathing in nature, and this year, that meaning became a way of coping with the stress of Covid.

“At times I found myself experiencing a sense of rising panic.

I heard about double breathing as a relaxation technique, and this became my way to calm and centre myself; so BREATHE became the name of my exhibition”.

Jenny’s work revels in the organic form and complex colours found in nature. She combines her curiosity and love of gardening in her work, growing much of what she paints.

She plans each composition to reveal intimate details of the bloom: in the same way that a portrait painter attempts to reveal the character of the person. Her process involves multiple layers of colour and glazing to achieve a finish that is both vibrant and immersive.

Jenny paints full time from her studio in Mt Colah – a bushy suburb north of Sydney.

Her work appears in galleries and exhibitions both locally and interstate.

Her works are sought after within Australia and around the world.

Café aulait dahlias are enormous and gregarious. Their curling petals bring to mind music and melody. In this series, I am interested in the play of light and dark and how it influences mood.

Anemones, especially white anemones, symbolize purity. I adore capturing the moment when sunlight illuminates the delicate veins and sets the petals aglow.
