A SMALL UPDATE!
Letter from the Editor Hey guys, Wow can you believe it's already been a whole month of school? The simulation moves so fast! Anyway, since Key Club aims to be interactive with the members I wanted to mention a way for people to be featured in the newsletter! As we all know Key Club has many members, and as I being only one person,ma not [yet ] acquainted with everyone. So when I need quotes for events I tend to gravitate towards people I already know, which means multiple quotes from same people. However, I want to hear everyone else's opinions and ideas too! Though this is still a work in progress, I will very soon be setting up a template on how to send in a quote so there is no confusion. As for now watch out for that update! All in all I hope you all enjoy reading the newsletter and watch out for some spicy new layouts in the October Newsletter. Stay connected and good luck to those of you taking the PSAT next week!
Yours in Service, Jennifer FinleyÂ

President's Note Hey Key Clubbers, What a fantastic first meeting we had! It was a great turn out and we hope that everyone had fun during the ice breakers as it was one to remember. This year, we as an Officer board plan to make obtaining your 50 hours a breeze. Always check our Facebook Page, Website, and Remind for new hour opportunities. Officially, we’ve added a new member to our Key Club family. Alongside Mrs.Wilson, Mrs.Ayodele will be one of the sponsors for this school year. She is so excited to be a part of our loving and generous club and we are so ecstatic to have her as a sponsor. Hope you were able to meet her at the first meeting! As we are now a month into school and the craziness is settled down, our first fundraiser has started! We are selling candy boxes that contain 50 pieces for $2 each. If you would like to participate, please feel free to pick up a box! With every box you seek you will get two hours! Have a great rest of the month! Email jerseyvillagekeyclub@gmail.com if you have any suggestions on events you would like to volunteer at!

Webmaster Edition:
What were your initial thoughts regarding Key and how have they changed throughout your years in the club? I first thought Key Club was just a big volunteering organization that you can join with your friends, but throughout my experiences, I realized that Key Club is so much more than just a volunteering organization. It’s a place that provides irreplaceable experiences that help improve yourself as a person and allows you to gain new special connections with other members.
What are you interested in that most people haven't heard of? Osmosis
What is one conspiracy theory you believe in?

Kevin Cao
Was the webmaster position your first choice, if so why, if not what was? The Webmaster position was indeed my first choice. I chose it because I thought that since I already had experience in creating websites and I have an appreciation for great design, it would be perfect for me.
What is something your friends would consider as "so you"? Wearing a hoodie or a striped shirt that’s too small for me with athletic shorts.
If you were a DJ, what would your DJ name be? DJ Kachow .

Serving breakfast to the homeless
September 28th, 2018
The Serve Team Houston was a very prodigious and a remarkable experience. To such degree, it exposed me to a new light and a deeper understanding of the citizen’s situations and how their life emerged as it is. To begin with, our fellows volunteers and I walked around the area and invited them in for a warm meal of breakfast. Moreover, I got the opportunity to interact and communicate with several of them and in the end, it amazed me how optimistic they can be. This event allowed me to create new lasting memories with people from different walks of life.

" At the event our group was situated at a water stop along with another school, and we passed out refreshers to the runners while cheering them on. I would 10/10 recommend going to a Run Houston if you are new to Key Club! " -Â Vivien Zheng, 11th
HOT SAUCE FESTIVAL SEPTEMBER 23RD, 2018
" Hot Sauce Festival was a great experience as it was a new and different event event to try. I was able to try hot sauces from sweet and sour to super hot (I also earned a Thor sticker). Additionally, I got to see a person eat fire as a magic trick and help other people come to enjoy the event like I did. This event was overall a great new experience and I would love to volunteer again next year! "

Houston Food Bank September 28th, 2018
" Houston Food Bank was in itself a very enjoyable and eye-opening experience. Having never attended this event before, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the facility was very well maintained and organized. Our club volunteered among other Key Clubs from across the city to make food bags for hungry families. We formed a conveyor belt line to package meat, vegetables, fruit, milk, cereal, and granola bars. Watching everyone work diligently for such a great cause was a very heartwarming sight to see. After the three-hour long process, we managed to stuff over one thousand bags of food. Ultimately, volunteering at the Houston Food Bank was an amazing opportunity, and I hope to volunteer there again soon. "

Due to the constant accessibility of indoor plumbing and clean drinking water at our convenience, many of us may forget that not everyone also has these luxuries.
In fact, the shocking reality is, 663 million people on our planet lack access to safe, clean drinking water!
That's why The Thirst Project works toward eliminating shortages of water by building a socially-conscious generation of young people. And by educating students about it and encouraging them to help the clean water cause, we can build real water projects all over the world.
Clean water means: LESS DISEASE, FURTHER EDUCATED STUDENTS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, and overall a BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE.
