Letter from the Editor
I
hope that everyone's summer has gone well thus far, and that you've all stayed active over the summer months. I just wanted to note that I have added two new editions to the newsletter. One, which is the Interactive Puzzle and two, the Meet the Officer page. Due to the fact that, yes, newsletters may get quite wordy, I wanted a way to engage and interest the reader. Although, the puzzles do not count towards any minutes please try them out anyway! Secondly, I realized that since there are many members in Key Club, not all of them may be familiar with our officers. As a result, I've created the Meet the Officer page for members, (and other officers) to get to know more about their fellow service partners. And as per requested from one of our presidents, Arianna, the first Meet the Officer is going to be me, you guessed it, The Editor! Enjoy the read, and keep volunteering!
Yours in Service, Jennifer Finley

President's Note Hey guys, I hope this message finds everyone cool in this summer heat here in Houston. Are you active in the summer? Are you enjoying your time in Key Club? Are you spending time with friends in Key Club? Are you having fun while volunteering? All of those answers should be YES! If not, we have many different types of events like Undies for Everyone, Blacklight Slide, Cypress Doggie Splah’N Dash, and a soon to be planned car wash! We even have the chance to help the CFISD community by helping out at the Substitute Badges Distribution! So gather a group of friends and go out and volunteer! We are a little over a month away from the start of the school year and about a month and a half away from our very first meeting! We are so, so, so, excited to be serving the term Co-Presidency for the 2018-2019 school year, and can’t wait until we see all of y’alls beautiful faces soon! Also remember to buy y’alls new clear backpacks!!! Have a great rest of the summer!

LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR UPDATE
HEY JERSEYAsVILLAGE the new school year quickly approaches, KEY CLUB! I encourage each and every one of you to
5
spend your last moments of freedom and enjoy your summer! I am very excited to work with all of you this upcoming school year! A few things to keep in mind: Service Never Ends - Try to keep your club active during the next two months. Service in the summer is a great way to boost hours for members who wouldn't have enough time to stay involved during the school year! Regional Training Conference - RTC is fast approaching! October 13th will be Region 12's RTC at Cy Falls High School. Attendance Counts - There are many ways to earn your club points towards the TOP 25 club rankings, and attendance is one of them. Promotion of your home club is the key to greater turnouts. All in all, T-O's quarterly club ranks will be out soon, so make sure that your club is in its best shape! Yours in Service, Darren Vilaysane, LTG Division 3N

Meet the Editor Edition:
Why did you join Key Club? I joined Key Club because I wanted to participate in a way to positively impact my community. Of course, everyone wants to make their environment better, but by joining Key Club and volunteering, I'm putting my words into actions. Plus, its fun to volunteer with friends!
What is one of your favorite parts of being in Key Club? One of my favorite parts of being in Key is the environment. Everyone is very friendly, and its so easy to meet someone new! Besides making friends, the community of people with similar volunteering goals is also very inspiring.
7
What are your favorite hobbies, or pastimes? Some of my favorite past-times are watching random videos on YouTube, and drawing. I also like to listen to my overplayed Spotify playlist.
Officer!
Jennifer Finley
What is one embarrassing moment you'll never forget? One memory I'll never forget is,
when I was younger I was pooped on by a seagull at the beach. I had felt something damp on my arm and looked down to see what it was. Then, I totally freaked out and ran back to my dad's car. Honestly, it was low-key traumatizing.
What is one of your biggest pet peeves? One of my biggest pet peeves is definitely when people aren't punctual. I feel like being on time benefits both parties, so be on time kids!
What was your favorite show(s) as a kid?
My favorite show, was Martha Speaks, hands down. The thought of a talking animal was just the coolest thing, plus who doesn't like dogs.

JULY 22ND,
DIVISIONAL COUNCIL MEETING
2018
Since I arrived late to the DCM I wasn't able to meet many new people from the surrounding Key Clubs, but it was a very enjoyable environment. Despite the blistering heat, a couple of officers were casually playing a round of volleyball. While others crowded around to catch up with each other. I also got to converse with Arianna, one of our presidents, about some things regarding my position as editor, and questions I had about club functions. All in all, it was nice to speak with and see my fellow Key officers, and I hope that at the next DCM I'll be able to meet some new faces!

Due to the constant accessibility of indoor plumbing and clean drinking water at our convenience, many of us may forget that not everyone also has these luxuries.
In fact, the shocking reality is, 663 million people on our planet lack access to safe, clean drinking water!
That's why The Thirst Project works toward eliminating shortages of water by building a socially-conscious generation of young people. And by educating students about it and encouraging them to help the clean water cause, we can build real water projects all over the world.
Clean water means: LESS DISEASE, FURTHER EDUCATED STUDENTS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, and overall a BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE.
