Dear WHCC members, Greetings. It appears it’s time to say goodbye to the hot summer temperatures and welcome in a cool and crisp fall season. We hope that you enjoyed the 2017 season at West Hills. If you have any feedback about this season, or what you would like to see next season, please do send an email to jcroce@westhillscountryclub.com or stop by the main office and ask for Jen so we can chat. To finish off the month of August, we will be featuring A Taste of Greece. Chef Pat and Chef Dio will be preparing and presenting Chef Dio’s family recipes. Moving into September, on Saturday the 1st, Jim Doyle will be lighting up the course with Glow Ball with the Pro. A finger-food buffet and lots of fun on the golf course make this an event that is not to be missed! The following Monday, September 4th, we will wrap up the season with our annual Labor Day celebration. Just because the season will be over doesn’t mean the fun stops! As you may or may not know, the 91st annual Feast of San Gennaro starts on September 14th. We are kicking off the celebration the night before on September 13th with WHCC’s Feast of San Gennaro Celebration featuring action stations filled with Italian delicacies along with a viewing of The Godfather Movie. Now that’s an offer you can’t refuse! Moving on, if you’d like to test your culinary skills, please join Chef Pat for Prep with the Chef on Wednesday, September 20th. To wrap up the month of September, we will presenting WHCC Around the World. This event will have food action stations from around the world to tantalize your taste buds. The culinary team is busy creating and testing recipes from around the globe, and they’d like your assistance. If you have a suggestion for a city, state or country whose flavor you’d like to taste, please let us know by emailing jcroce@westhillscountryclub.com. Finally, mark your October calendars as we will feature our Member Season-End Cocktail Party on the 7th, A Taste of Octoberfest on the 18th and A Taste of Fall on the 25th. Members, we appreciate your support of the club this season and will continue to serve you, your family members, friends and guests in the pro shop and restaurant and on the golf course and tennis courts. Please let us know immediately if there is anything we can do to enhance your West Hills Country Club experience. Best of luck with the start of school to those of you who have children. Staff Spotlight
Ryan Sonnenschein Assistant Golf Professional Ryan Sonnenschein has been the assistant golf professional at West Hills Country Club since April 2014. Before that he worked for his father at Tarry Brae Golf Course since he was tall enough to reach the pedals on a golf cart. He played on the varsity high school golf team at Monticello High School from 7th – 12th grade. He then played for SUNY Orange for two years. Both years playing at SUNY Orange, Ryan qualified for the Division III Junior College National golf tournament. In 2010 he qualified by winning the Division III college regional golf tournament. Ryan is currently working towards gaining his Class A PGA certification and hopes to be elected to membership by the end of the 2017 season. His main goal as the assistant golf professional at West Hills is to provide all members with the best country club experience possible through teaching, golf club repair, tournament operations, and any other member service he can provide. In the off season Ryan enjoys skiing and spending time with his family.
