Dear LCC Members, This past month started off with a bang as July 4th fireworks lit up the sky in Cincinnati. The month ended with some heat as we served the hot and spicy flavors of Spain! Our July 4th cookout was well attended by members who enjoyed pool games, face painting, sack racing and balloon sculpting. We finished the evening off with our traditional decorated cart parade which was enjoyed by members of all ages. The following weekend, we broke all the rules by serving an elegant, upscale lobster dinner on the verandah. With sand and seashell decorations on the tables and jazz music in the background, members enjoyed dining on the verandah for the first time since the remodeling of the clubhouse! The night started out with jumbo shrimp cocktail and ended elegantly with butler-passed, rosemary and lemon scented steamed hand-towels. Later in the month, the LCC staff delivered Prime Rib Night which was a huge hit with the membership. It was such a great night that we were immediately asked to do it again. On the heels of Prime Rib Night, we featured A Taste of Spain. The aromas from the kitchen were so amazing that our staff could barely stay focused! Our members were literally walking back into the kitchen to tell the culinary team how fantastic their meals were. Looking forward to the next part of season, we have some great events lined up at the clubhouse. In August, we’ll be featuring A Taste of Asia, A Taste of Latin America and Prime Rib Night. Additionally, we are having our first Founders and Friends Luncheon which will be reminiscent of the “golden days” at the Club. Finally, members can join us for a Beer and Wine Flight Night at the end of August. Moving into September, we will kick the month off with our Labor Day cookout! Members will then be delighted with Prime Rib Night featuring the live sounds of Stuck in the ’60s. The culinary team is planning on wowing our membership once again with A Taste of France and A Taste of Greece. Of course, we will have our traditional Rosh Hashanah Brunch and Eve buffets. It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to an end and the kids are heading back to school. Well, as they say, “Time flies when you’re having fun!” As your family gets back into its regular routine, we do hope that you will work us into your calendar. Next time you are planning to dine out, remember that we always have a table waiting for you, and it’s nicer to come to the Club and enjoy friends than to park and wait in line downtown. I’d like to personally thank the members who continue to come out and support their Club. Your undying support and camaraderie is what keeps LCC going. We’ll see you at your Club, Jennifer.

Ms. Alyssa Akiyama Congratulations to one of our newer members, Alyssa Akiyama. You may remember that on March 18, 2014 during her first round of golf as a new member, Alyssa got a Hole-In-One on #7. We were all very excited to see that in the newsletter. Alyssa now has even more exciting news that we can’t wait to share. Alyssa, a rising junior at Seven Hills High School and an LCC member, has had some staggering achievements this summer. Earlier this summer she tied for 7 th at the Callaway Junior WORLD Qualifier, narrowly missing the cut by 2 shots. This week, Alyssa will be playing at the PGA Junior Championship at Miramont Country Club in Bryan, Texas just outside of College Station. The event runs from July 29th until August 1st. We will all be cheering you on from the Club!
Mr. Richard Weiland Congratulations to Mr. Weiland, philanthropist, who recently had a building named after him at the Talbert House where his name was already on a meeting room in another building. He was recently honored for his efforts and support by the Renew Church in College Hill. Later this year, he is scheduled to be recognized with a Community Relations award from the Jewish Federation and Jewish Communities. At present, his name appears thirteen times locally including the Weiland Zeff House which is co-named with another member of LCC, Mrs. Ann Zeff. Additionally, Mr. Weiland’s name appears on a hall at the American Jewish Archives at the Hebrew Union College, and in 2012 he was honored with the Dick Weiland Field at the Dunham Recreation Complex. He is continually recognized for his endless efforts that better our neighborhoods. Mr. Weiland, congratulations on your most recent success!
We all know what a great job LCC’s grounds crew does on the course and clubhouse grounds. What you may not know is that they are doing this fabulous work at the same time they are one man short on their team. In addition to their day to day duties, this amazing team has been handling all of the extra work brought on by the 2014 winter, spring and summer storms. I’d like to personally thank each and every member of this hard-working team for stepping up and making LCC’s course and grounds look so beautiful. Next time you are out enjoying the course or the grounds, please do say hello, smile or wave at the talented, hard-working gentlemen and lady who keep your course and grounds in such fantastic shape. Golf News Chad Gilligan PGA Head Golf Professional Some great tournaments have come and gone with some exciting play by our members, but some of our biggest events are still ahead! The Club Championships are fast approaching and the course is in exceptional condition. The weather has been unseasonably cool and certainly has allowed many of you to have some very enjoyable and comfortable mid-to-late July rounds. Thank you to our Losantiville Women’s Golfers who participated in our Play for P.I.N.K. event on Tuesday. Thank you also for your generosity with your contributions to the Estee Lauder Play for P.I.N.K. Foundation. We took a group photo, which was taken on the 1st Tee prior to play, and is below in this section. Members have been compiling Golf Shop Credit with their exceptional play and I just would like to start reminding you now that all of the credit that you have won will expire on December 31 st of this year. We have had some new product arrive in the Golf Shop over the past couple of weeks and will continue to do so through early Fall. Some new equipment has been released and has arrived as well, with Ping’s new G30 line of clubs. Also, Titleist will be releasing their new 915D woods line in the fall of this year. We are looking forward to a great second half of the golf season and hope to see you out practicing, playing, shopping, and enjoying friends and family at the Club.
