Just as I posted the metrics of our year-onyear performance which saw us add Brazil to our reach, we were equally inundated with a plethora of amazing Body and Mind tips and hacks to keep us all on our feet mentally and literally. From Goat Yoga to Pilates. So much so that we had to cut back the magazine at some point after reaching 102 pages, we decided to save some articles for the October issue just so we can stick to the most popular reading times insights we posted last month. We hope this is not too disappointing for any of the contributing writers, but that it can instead serve as encouragement to submit your articles early in future, rather than wait to be asked. Truth be told, we are ALWAYS going to want you to submit your awesome pieces, so thank you now and always for making Spotlight Magazine

GO WITH THE FLOW. A Post Pandemic SWOT Analysis By Jennifer Nash

Eight months of 2021 are already gone!

This year has been like four seasons of winter. Although It’s been relatively s p e a k i n g a n i n n o c u o u s y e a r in comparison to the drama and drudgery of last year, by comparison to ‘normal life as we knew’ there is a sting of bitter cold harsh realities that we are all still reeling from this warrants a postpandemic analysis editorial.

That being said, we have also witnessed an immense amount of positive transformations in our society. Worth noting the stark growth of digital business happening on Social Media in comparison to its almost desolate relative of the high street brick and mortar has been the greatest equalizer our modern world had witnessed by far.

Albeit at the cost of many decent businesses and brands closing shop literally and traditional physical banking institutions’ doors shutting their doors to in person customer services, there is a sign of resigned resilience in the human population.

Be that as it may, the equalizer has come mainly from the fact that almost everyone can make a living off social media. The downside of that comes with a high risk of unsuspecting consumers being duped out of their meagre e a r n i n g s o r r e v e n u e b y t h e c le v e r a n d r u t h l e s s w h i t e - c o l l a r c r i m i n a ls

who are taking advantage of the lack of regulation on the digital landscape.

Case in point, myself, and several other small businesses, we were scammed into paying for marketing services to a company calling itself Sanity Marketing.

The dichotomy of this insanity was that no one was any wiser until it was rather too late. The issue at hand is so complex that banks are grappling to refund their customers that were victimised, while customers are disheartened to say the least with nowhere to turn. As my favourite saying goes, things are not always black and white!

There is always a shade of grey somewhere.

As some would say there are indeed always two sides to a coin. What all

are ultimately saying is there there is an untold story behind what happened with Sanity Marketing, the real story behind Covid a n d h o w i t s t a r t e d , t h e D o n a ld T r u m p m a n i a insurrection at Capitol Hill in January 2021, and the historical or business, political or societal sagas man has ever experienced.

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines legacy as “a gift by will especially of money or other personal property” or “something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past.”

I think for most of us the thought of legacy is what we leave after we are gone.

And the wonder and excitement of that understanding means that we can intentionally choose what we want our impact to be every day.

If you’ve tried to meditate before, then you might believe that your mind is too busy, and you just can’t find the stillness that so many people talk about. You are not alone!

Many people sit for the first or fifth or fiftieth time and they think "I just can't do this. My mind isn't clear." or "There are constantly thoughts running through my mind, I just can't seem to shut it off!" Here's the good news: meditation is not about stopping your thoughts at all! It is about having the thought, recognizing it for what it is without judgement, and letting it pass. The stillness part is really about calming the physical body so we’re no longer distracted from what’s going on in our hearts and minds.

THERE ARE CONSTANTLY THOUGHTS RUNNING THROUGH MY MIND, I JUST CAN'T SEEM TO SHUT IT OFF!

Your goal is to get back to the bottom of the river where you can see the boats and logs for what they are, and then let them continue down the stream – without attaching any story, judgement, or

Imagine you’re like a big ol' frog at the bottom of a river watching boats and logs passing by overhead. Some drift lazily by, while others roar through the water stirring up the muck from the bottom. The river is your stream of consciousness, and the boats and logs are your thoughts and feelings. Some feelings appear in our stream of consciousness and we are able to let them go without much disturbance.

Other thoughts or feelings stir up all the personal muck we’ve got stored inside of us, and it can take time for it to settle again.

This meditative practice of finding regular stillness can be powerfully harnessed in your business when you sit with the open intention of engaging your creativity, finding a solution, or making a heartcentered decision. When you open yourself up to receiving answers from God or The Universe, you’ll be empowered by the strength of certainty you feel. Using stillness as a tool in your business is the key to setting aside all the (often contradictory) business strategy advice out there so you can make strong decisions as a business owner!

However, our froggy minds do what they do best, and you JUMP up onto a log or a boat as it passes by. We can easily find ourselves caught up in our thoughts, especially the shiny distractions or turbulent memories. Often, you won’t even realize you’re in a boat speeding along the top of the water until you’ve been riding it for a little while. That’s ok! Just jump back into the stream.

Goat yoga is exactly what it sounds like.

Doing yoga outside while goats wander around you. The fitness trend started in upstate New York, migrated to places like Oregon and most recently, Arizona, where April Gould offers goat yoga classes to people on her farm for about $10 a class. Look, almost any kind of yoga (aside from the weird Core Power stuff) teaches non-judgement, but obviously, I still have a lot of yogic teaching to internalize because these classes are just dumb. Most goat yoga classes are lead by a professional instructor while the goats wander around nibbling on your clothes or jumping up on you while you’re in table top position.Just to be clear, no kind of workout should involve animals jumping on you, unless you’re in the circus or something.

Here’s the thing, if you want to just hang out with goats, go hang out with goats. Don’t bring yoga into this. And if you’re looking for a way to make yoga more entertaining, well you’re kind of missing the point. The only people you need to pay attention to are the people that you look upto and aspire to be like one day, who are out there where you want to be and you’ll notice that they are not going to have time to judge you because they actually did it. Usually those are the people who are comfortable being uncomfortable and they know what it takes to achieve a goal.

People who usually sit around judging and scrutinizing every single thing that you do usually have something within them. It’s their personal limitations. Don’t blame them. It’s their own inner fears and they will never actually step outside of their comfort zone.
