I think the issue is that there is a great deal of age society. Couple that with the problem that wome insecure about our age. This is because our socia perceived to decrease as we age–as we lose our c beauty Well, at least this is the beauty that’s soci as acceptable, and that kind of beauty is inextrica youth.

I also highly doubt that any of the people who’ve ever called me Ma'am had any intention of insulting me. I believe they were actually trying to be respectful. I'm the one who gets triggered because I'm insecure about aging as a female.

And yet, I think one great way to do away with the issue is to adopt a new honorific--say, Ms. Then no woman has to feel like she's being judged for how old she looks. That we have an honorific that is related to a woman's marital status is sexist as it is.
