The irony of this story can only be understood by those who know what Tanzania patriarchal society looks like on the ground! But that’s not my business to share here! For my part, I want to celebrate this as a victory and a

Without sounding like an eternal pessimist, we can only hope that ray of sunshine and hope can be long lived.

On the bright side, 2021 has been an amazing year so far! With a lot of success stories of extraordinary people overcoming extraordinary challenges to rise through the storms!

My favourite one as always is hearing the rise of women becoming the best versions of themselves! That is why in this 1st year anniversary issue, I want to celebrate 50 over 50 women who have challenged the status quo to become entrepreneurs! My hat off to these fearless female entrepreneurs who against all odds despite being fashionably late, they’re challenging or have challenged the status quo to become their own badass bosses!

I look forward to hearing more inspiring and amazing stories and casting a Spotlight-onwomen!

Her parents were both army doctors that loved each other very much.

Chopra admired her parents and wanted her love life to be like a fairytale, that’s what we call a fantasy of every little girl.

She was the shining star of her parents and also always the centre of attraction. After her brother Siddharth was born, things changed.

She became rude and disrespectful, so her parents decided to send her to boarding school. The first six months were tough for her as she was so depressed and sad but the experience (boarding life) made her confident, independent, and strong.

At the age of 17, Priyanka wanted to become an engineer, but the universe had other plans for her.

Siddharth had submitted a form for Miss Femina India for her. Surprisingly but not so surprising, she won the title of Femina Miss World and that prestigious Crown.

On the finals of Miss World 2000, Priyanka was asked to mention successful women living today and why. She mentioned Mother Teresa, which caught everyons attention. She then became "Queen of the world" Miss world 2000.

After winning the crown, Chopra started her acting career in Bollywood and again became Queen of Bollywood. She made a lot of blockbusters such as Krrish3, Bajirao Mastani, Mary Kom, fashion, Dostana, etc.

Priyanka flew from Bollywood to Hollywood and became a star in Hollywood. She then got married to Nick Jonas. After their wedding, rumours spread that she got married for money, like seriously, why would a successful woman like Priyanka who has more than 60 million followers on Instagram marry a boy whose career has just started?

The reason can only be "Love" .

Nick Jonas was the guy who got on his knees and proposed to Chopra.

Sometimes, we should accept reality without making assumptions, because assumptions or rumours can hurt others. Nick and Priyanka are happy together and becoming a success.

I realised I do not like failing. I just like being the best. I hate being a loser. so I just have to keep winning.

TANZANIA’S FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT AFTER PREDECESSOR DIES FROM COVID. Samia Suluhu Hassan becomes the 6 th President of Tanzania, after Predecessor John Pombe Joseph Magufuli dies from Covid. The late president was rumoured to be suffering from covid-19, which he had long denied was present in Tanzania.

Her political career began in 2000 where she decided to run for public office. “She was elected as a special seat member to the Zanzibar House of Representatives and was appointed a minister”-dw.com by President

Amani Karume. “She was the only highranking female minister in the cabinet and was "looked down on" by her male colleagues because she was female.

She was re-elected in 2005 and was reappointed as a minister in another portfolio”- Wikipedia.

Not only is Samia the first-ever female president, she is also the first-ever vice president of Tanzania to be sworn in as president and the first Zanzibari to lead Tanzania.

She is currently Africa’s only current female National Leader. “Some see Samia’s presidency as challenging the stereotype that women cannot hold top leadership positions”-voanews.com.

People believe that she is a very capable leader as she has good ethic, temperament and decision-making. But where this places her in terms of policy is not yet clear. Most significantly, she has still to announce whether she will continue her predecessor's skeptical approach to dealing with coronavirus.

Among the first tasks facing Samia, will be a decision on whether to procure Covid vaccines. She will also be faced with the task of healing a country polarized during the Magufuli years and building her own political base to govern effectively.

Fifty+ but en vogue To celebrate the first anniversary for Spotlight, as Editor-In-Chief for the magazine, I did an impromptu social media call-out to invite 50 over 50 Female Entrepreneurs to join me in celebrating this milestone as I founded this magazine two months after my 51st birthday in 2020.

BY JENNIFER NASH Symbolic of my own outlook on life, I'm a yummy granny at heart and indeed I'm not afraid of 'starting something new even if it scares the crap out of me!

That is why I was super excited to announce that as a celebration of the 1 year anniversary of Spotlight Magazine, I wanted to do something that will inspire other over 50 women to feel seen, heard as people doing innovative things. Let them Explore Discover Thrive in whatever path they have carved for themselves.

Therefore, I wanted to honour these women by inviting any 50 over 50 Fashionably Late Entrepreneurs to join me in celebrating this milestone by writing their 100-word short story of how they got into their business!

In August of 1985, I walked up to The University of North Texas with no idea of how I would pay for college. I just knew I was supposed to be there. After my father received a posthumous 100% disability designation from the US Navy, it paid for my Bachelors in Business. I then received my Masters in Counseling. In 2007, I opened Terrell Counseling, Inc. which now has 11 devoted therapists and work for the US Navy as a therapist in Bahrain to give back the blessings. Mentoring up coming therapists is a passion also.
