For centuries, Jekyll Island has fascinated everyone who’s ever crossed its barrier shores. With ten miles of sun-drenched beaches, award-winning golf courses, and Georgia’s only rehabilitation center for endangered sea turtles, there’s something for every kind of explorer.
Jekyll Island experiences two high tides and two low tides each day. The time it takes to go from the first high tide to the following high tide is 12 hours and 25 minutes. High tides at Jekyll Island range between 6-9 feet above low tide levels. Be sure to check the tide charts before heading to the beach: jekyllisland.com/tide

Did you know sea turtles nest at night? These creatures use natural light to orient themselves on the beach, but man-made light can confuse them. Reduce harmful impacts on sea turtle nesting by closing blinds & drapes and using turtle-safe flashlights, available for purchase at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. These flashlights illuminate true red (580 nm or longer wavelength) and allow you to safely enjoy the beach without disturbing sea turtles.
