VEHICLE PARKING

The entry fee to Jekyll Island is used to improve and maintain the island, including roads, grounds, picnic areas, and landscaping. The fee also supports the island’s conservation programs and contributes to public safety. Pay-by-the-day and annual entry can be purchased online in advance at jekyllisland.com/parking .

For centuries, Jekyll Island has fascinated everyone who’s ever crossed its barrier shores. With ten miles of sun-drenched beaches, award-winning golf courses, and Georgia’s only rehabilitation center for endangered sea turtles, there’s something for every kind of explorer.

TIDES

Jekyll Island experiences two high tides and two low tides each day. The time it takes to go from the first high tide to the following high tide is 12 hours and 25 minutes. High tides at Jekyll Island range between 6-9 feet above low tide levels. Be sure to check the tide charts before heading to the beach: jekyllisland.com/tide

STATE PARK RULES

• No motorized vehicles, fires, fireworks, glass containers, overnight camping, metal/mineral detectors, horseback riding (unless by licensed vendor).

• No flashlights, unless turtle friendly

• Stay off of the dunes.

• Do not disturb turtles or nests.

• Do not take driftwood, live sand dollars, or other sea life from the beach.

• Fill in sandcastles and holes

• Remove all trash, tents, and belongings from the beach; belongings left overnight will be removed and discarded

• Pets must be on a leash at all times; maximum length for leashes is 16 feet

• No pets allowed on beach between South Dunes Beach Park and 2,000 feet northeast of St. Andrews Beach Park

• Remove and dispose of pet waste.

Situated mid-island, Oceanview Beach Park has stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and quick access to the sand. It’s equipped with ample parking, an ADA deck overlook & beach access, restrooms, and showers.

GREAT DUNES BEACH PARK*

Jekyll Island’s most popular beach for families is home to a 20-acre beachfront park with picnic pavilions, activities deck, play areas, and bocce ball and volleyball courts. Offers ample parking, ADA beach access, restrooms, and showers.

CORSAIR BEACH PARK

Steps from the shopping and dining of Beach Village, this beach park provides picnic tables, showers, and restrooms.

GLORY BEACH

Graceful sea oats and pristine sand dunes line Glory Beach on the south end of Jekyll Island. You’ll be amazed at how wide this beach is, and you’ll see why movie scouts chose to film portions of Glory here.

ST. ANDREWS BEACH PARK*

A short walk from Jekyll Point, the southernmost tip of the island, a popular spot for watching migratory birds and groups of dolphins. The picnic area features an ADA beach access, twostory wildlife viewing platform, and the Wanderer Memory Trail.

BEACH ACCESSIBILITY

Jekyll Island is committed to beach accessibility for residents and guests with disabilities. Four public beach access points are accessible: St. Andrews (#67), Oceanview (#26), Great Dunes (#32), and Beach Village (#38). Beach-going wheelchairs are available and can be delivered for use at no cost on a firstcome, first-served basis. Please call 912.635.2648 for reservations.

BEACH LIGHTING

Did you know sea turtles nest at night? These creatures use natural light to orient themselves on the beach, but man-made light can confuse them. Reduce harmful impacts on sea turtle nesting by closing blinds & drapes and using turtle-safe flashlights, available for purchase at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. These flashlights illuminate true red (580 nm or longer wavelength) and allow you to safely enjoy the beach without disturbing sea turtles.

Boasting some of the most diverse and plentiful bird watching in the country, Jekyll Island has two observation towers to safely observe the wildlife: one adjacent to the Guest Information Center and another at the end of the Wanderer Memory Trail at St. Andrews Beach Park.

HORTON POND

Located across from Villas by the Sea Home to a variety of wildlife, Horton Pond features a floating platform for turtles, alligators, and birds to rest. Safely appreciate this habitat from the wheelchair accessible observation deck or Tupelo Trail, a .7 mile trail surrounding the pond.

HISTORIC FAITH CHAPEL

Built in 1904, Faith Chapel opened as an interdenominational church for members of the Jekyll Island Club. Home to the famed Tiffany window masterpiece, Faith Chapel is a must-see while touring the Historic District.

JEKYLL ISLAND GOLF CLUB

INDIAN MOUND: Constructed in 1975, this course displays designer Joe Lee’s signature fairway bunkers in precarious locations. GREAT DUNES: Closed for historic restoration. Opening fall 2025.

PINE LAKES: Originally built in 1968 and newly renovated in 2024, Pine Lakes meanders through ocean forests and undisturbed marsh hammocks. This course incorporates family-friendly tee boxes, making it a great option for golfers of all ages.

BIKING & TRANSPORTATION

Bicycling has long been a favorite activity on Jekyll Island. With more than 24 miles of picturesque paths and trails, biking offers a scenic way to see all of the island’s hallmark points of interest. Paths wind around sand dunes, beaches, and historic sites, while our ancient oaks offer ample shade.

• Bike helmets are required for riders 16 and younger.

• Ride single-file on bike paths.

• Stay on bike paths when possible.

• No golf carts on bike paths.

• Share the road; drivers and cyclists have equal rights to use the road.

• Allow traffic to pass by moving to the shoulder where it is safe to do so.

• Electric bikes are not available for rentals or tours.

• Golf carts are allowed on Jekyll roads but must be street legal (braking system, reflectors, horn, rearview mirror, seat belts, and handholds for each passenger).
