The 1619 Memorial and Museum
Spring 2021
The 1619 Memorial and Museum project done with partner Shaan Lakshmanan is situated on the coast of Fort Comfort, Virginia, the site where the first enslaved Africans were brought to America. Our project aimed to create an experience that encourages visitors to reckon with the past, acknowledge the present, and prompt a more just future. Our project’s form, interior, and exterior spatial planning, structure, and systems are informed by the layers of datum lines taken from the site. Through these different layering applications, our project can be thought of as an architectural palimpsest of narratives that already exist within the site, encouraging visitors to consider the site’s deep history.

Hybrid Housing and E-Waste Center in Castiglione D’Orcia Fall 2020 The Hybrid Housing and E-Waste Center project done with partner Kelsey Benitez explores the concepts of 5G. With advancements in telecommunications, generations are constantly being replaced, making outdated technology undesirable and obsolete. We speculated how we could re-frame the way we think about technology, not as a cycle of waste but rather a cycle of repurposing. From this question, we developed a program that would follow two different yet intertwined cycles, the cycle of human life and the cycle of technology. Our project begins to synthesize the cycle of humans and technology by proposing an intergenerational co-housing community with a technology recycling center. The project promotes engagement with different generations and uses data to foster adaptable living. All renders are done in V-Ray.

Supportive Housing In the South Bronx
Spring 2020
The Supportive Housing in the South Bronx project, done with partners Katie Weeks and Olivia Dellacava, is located next to what will be one of the four new borough-based jails in New York due to the closing of Riker’s Island. Our concept revolved around four key ideas. First, preserve and protect the South Bronx from gentrification, and support and foster community-driven growth. Second, creating an urban ecosystem where residences can live, work, and play. Third, adaptable micro-living; the compact forms of our units densify the building and encourage sustainable living. Fourth is intergenerational housing to avoid displacement and promote continuous safe and affordable housing throughout the many phases of life.

Housing Project along New York City’s High Line
Fall 2019
The Housing Project along New York City’s High Line explores highrise mixed-use housing. The project combines housing and large-scale vertical farming to promote healthy living and a greater connection to nature while living in a major city. The project is comprised of pixels that are connected in different organizations. These clusters create multi-family units that provide optimal sunlight and access to either private or shared terraces. Each floor has communal cooking and dining spaces located in the center of the floor’s circulation path and communal growing areas where residents are encouraged to grow and cultivate the produce they use.
