Barn Razing

Salvaged barn wood 8 x 5 x 8 feet

THIS DAMAGED WOOD was salvaged from an old barn built during the 1880s in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. Now in disuse, it started falling down after years of record storms and winds. Today I’ve upcycled the decaying wood into an installation expressing the effects of climate change, in particular the progressive violence of this barn’s collapse due to excessive weather events. This provocative installation of fragmented wood represents humanity’s unsustainable trajectory in attempting to control both natural and constructed environments.
