Dr. Jeffery Whippo is a leadership consultant with many years of success in business and military leadership.

He believes that when measuring leadership, there are various techniques that are used to measure the aptitude of the leaders themselves, to include their leadership competencies, as well as to measure their effect on their subordinates that are following them.



However, the major disadvantage of using superior’s rating measure is that the raters may be unwilling to provide tough feedback.



The advantage is that the ratings are subject to the leaders’ behaviors and multiple raters are used, therefore scores are averaged out to a mean performance rating.
