Reflection #1

Choose what you consider to be your most signifigant work for the publication this year.

y most signifigant work for the book this year are my design efforts. I have always loved design and I think I have a real knack for it. I really love working with Mia because we have similar taste and ideas which makes things run much more smoothly. It helps alot to have two people working on the appearence of the book in case one of us gets stuck on a page (which happens often). I think it also frees up Mia’s time to focus on other things as well, it would be too much pressure for just one person. At times it can be difficult and very draining but it’s rewarding to see the end product.

My favorite spread that I worked on so far is the swim page (100 & 101). I picked out all the photos for this and edited them all. I also did all the design for this page and put together one of the mods. The thing I love the most about that spread is that it looks like a single page instead of two pages next to each other, it just flows very nicely. I ended up making it a template so we could use it later on.

templates are also something that falls to me to do and I think they are a big help for team leaders when it comes to how the want their page to look and what types of mods and stories they are going to do to fill it.

Photo Editor Reflection

In your current role, what is the most signifigant contribution you have made to the oublication so far this year, what are you proudest of?

“I created the file system last year and people seemed to respond better to it”

I

talked alot about this in the previous reflection but as far as being photo editor my greatest contribution has been the organization of the photos.

In the past there have been really messy systems that not everyone knew how to navigate and this causef alot of stress for everyone involved. I created the file system last year and people seemed to respond better to it at first but the photo editor didn’t keep up with the organization of it and it felll apart.

This year I wanted to stay on top of it from the start, which I think I’ve done a pretty good job of. I’ll admit that I’ve slipped up here and there but I’ve been trying to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
