Nashville, TN (April 15, 2022) - St. Cecilia Academy is proud to announce that two senior athletes, Augusta Miller and Georgeann Ritter, have signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers in college.
Augusta Miller will join the rowing team at Columbia University. Miller was Captain of the Nashville Rowing Club Juniors Women's Team where she was awarded "Most Valuable Athlete" in 2021. She placed 4th in the Women's Varsity 4+ Southeast Regionals and 23rd in the Women's Varsity 4+ Youth Nationals Nashville Rowing Executive Director Cory Sanderson says, "It’s been a pleasure to coach Gussie Miller, and see her grow as a rower and teammate. Seeing her progress from her first strokes, to competing on some of the largest National stages is exciting to say the least. She continues a tradition of strong rowers from SCA, and I know she is helping to inspire the next group of girls to do the same.”
Miller not only excelled on the water, but also in the classroom. The AP Scholar is the President of the St. Cecilia chapter of the National Honor Society, member of Mu Alpha Theta, the National Spanish Honor Society and the National Latin Honor Society. She won gold and silver medals in the National Latin Exam; two silvers and a bronze medal in the National Spanish Exam, and Best Academic Performance medals in Latin 2, AP European History and AP English Language and Composition. Miller is also a fouryear member of Youth in Government and a three- year member of Model United Nations where she was awarded Outstanding Delegate and member of Secretariat and Security Council. She plans to major in Physics with a minor in Russian Language and Literature.
Georgie Ritter will take her volleyball skills to Roanoke College Ritter was a starting varsity member of the St. Cecilia Academy volleyball team all four years as well as the volleyball club Ethos here in Nashville. She was selected to the TSSAA 2021 All Region 1 st Team and ended her high school career with 180 Digs, 280 Kills, and 27 Blocks. According to Volleyball Head Coach Sarah Cragon, “Georgie has always been a very consistent and solid player on the court. She is a very humble athlete, never wanted the spotlight to be about her, which makes her a great teammate. She was always the first one in the huddle to encourage or cheer on her teammates.” Ritter is an Honor Roll student and is the Tennis Team Manager this year. She plans to major in History with a concentration in Public History.

The St. Cecilia Academy athlete can compete in 12 varsity sports, including basketball, bowling, crosscountry, golf, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track-and-field, and volleyball. Over half of our students play a sport, often while also taking a challenging class load and holding leadership positions in other school clubs.
