Parks & Recreation Board

The Park & Recreation Board reviews and recommends policies, fees, administrative and budgetary matters to the Village Board. The Park & Recreation Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month in the Village Hall Council Chambers. Meetings begin promptly at 7 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

The Lincolnwood Parks and Recreation Department is committed to providing enjoyable quality programs and attractive, safe facilities to promote the health, welfare and pleasure of all the residents of Lincolnwood.

Department Vision

It is the vision of the Parks and Recreation Department of the Village of Lincolnwood to promote a feeling of community among all the diverse residents with a wide range of quality recreational programs and facilities to meet their needs.

HOW TO USE THIS GUIDE EACH CLASS IS IDENTIFIED BY A SESSION ID NUMBER. CLASS FEES ARE SHOWN AS “R” FOR LINCOLNWOOD RESIDENTS AND “NR” FOR NON-RESIDENTS. REGISTRATION IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. WE ACCEPT REGISTRATION ONLINE, IN-PERSON, MAIL, AND FAX.

Join Santa for his annual visit to the Village of Lincolnwood. Santa will be stopping by the Community Center to enjoy breakfast and visit and take pictures with the children. Register early as spaces fll up quickly. All adults and children in attendance must register for this event.

Holiday House Decorating Contest

We are looking for some of the most festive and creative houses in Lincolnwood. Houses entered in the contest will be voted on by staff in the categories of Most Original, Best Theme and Best Use of Lights. The winning house will receive a prize. Participating houses must have their lights turned on beginning at 5 pm on the evening of December 13.

OUTDOOR TENNIS

Lincolnwodod Tennis Club Age 18+

Members of the Tennis club can reserve court time at Proesel, Flowers, and Central parks by phone four days in advance of play. Reservation Dates: May 1-October 31. Call 847.677.9740 to make a court reservation Monday-Friday from 9 am-5 pm.

NOTE: A Tennis Club Member must be on the court during reserved time.

Permanent Court Time

Anyone may reserve a permanent court time for the season (May 1-October 31) at Proesel, Flowers, or Central Park Courts. First come, frst served (not eligible for instruction). Rental Fee: $15/hour

Reserving Court Time

Parks and Recreation Department programs, lessons and Tennis Club members have frst priority on the courts. Tennis Club Members may reserve up to two hours per day.

Harmonious Horizons: Music Together®

Days: Tuesday & Saturday

The Music Together program taught by Harmonious Horizons groups children of a variety of ages and in family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating the older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones and adults enjoy having their whole family in one class together. Each child participates at their own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching and exploring musical instruments. No equipment needed. Each family will also received a take-home kit flled with materials related to this sessions lessons and gain access to the Music Together digital Family Music Zone.

Family Volleyball Skills & Games

Day: Saturday

This action-packed activity is perfect for all ages and skill levels who want to enjoy a day of friendly competition and teamwork on the court. Participants can practice serving, passing, blocking, and hitting in a variety of drills and challenges. They can also put their skills to the test in exciting games like team volleyball, beach volleyball, and rally scoring. With plenty of opportunities to bond with family members and stay active, this event is sure to be a hit with everyone. Get ready to bump, set, and spike your way to a fun-flled day of family volleyball! Registration is per family.

T-Ball Skills Clinic

This introductory T-ball program is perfect for a child who wants to have fun, make new friends and be introduced to baseball. Come enjoy a memorable night with your child and celebrate the Spirit of the Season making gifts! Glitzy Girlz staff will assist in this unique class with each couple designing, decorating, and wrapping surprises. Each couple will make and take home 3 adorable gifts of wood, ceramic, and beading/jewelry with paints, embellishments, stickers and more. Perfect for any recipient this holiday. A station for making tags, wrapping paper, and decorating gift bags is provided to conceal gifts.

NEW! Get Pampered Spa Night

Come join the Village of Lincolnwood for a fun night out with Glitzy Girlz! Everyone is welcome to come in their PJs! Our staff will be pampering everyone with fun braids and sparkles. We will teach a mini manicure and pedicure section along with polishing nails and toes with glitter, neon, and pastel polishes. A foot nail brush, cuticle stick, and buffer will be take home goodies along with a mini polish and jewelry glam bag. Our night ends with some music and fun dancing to some disco lights and props for pictures!

Yom Kippur Acts of Kindness Event

Yom Kippur is a day for asking for forgiveness and forgiving others. It is also a day that reminds us to “think of love and be kind” in the new year — and that’s exactly what this beautiful love rocks activity is. We will go grab some rocks, paint, and brushes to make and exchange these heartfelt reminders.

Magic Class

Day: Thursday

Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn a collection of fascinating and mesmerizing tricks from the "Magic Team of Gary Kantor"! Amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind-reading, and more. All materials are provided, and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and always learn tricks that are ageappropriate. Additionally, you can sign up for this class again and again since brand new tricks are always taught at each session!

Under the creative direction of skilled Chicago Loves Dance instructors, students will learn choreography to the newest pop/ dance songs, show off their creativity in free-style choreography sessions and more. Chicago Loves Dance runs on the philosophy that dance should open your child’s creative abilities and be FUN! We pride ourselves on teaching the self-esteem and socialization needed in everyday life through the activity of dance and performance. The last day of the class will be a parent watch day where they will do a short performance to show off their new talents.

Learn chess with Athena! We've designed a high-energy, stimulating approach to chess that is great for all ages. Classes are typically divided into different skill levels. Students will spend much of their time playing each other and challenging the instructor. At the beginning of each class, we have a brief question and answer session on a certain topic, challenging students with exercises and puzzles. Da Vinci’s Workshop

Join us today to create your own masterworks; no experience required! Our Renaissance instructors will guide your child through exciting new lessons every class! Students will learn fundamental artistic skills in a variety of mediums including acrylic painting, watercolors, clay sculptures, cartoons, anime, manga, sketching and drawing. Under the direction of Chicago Loves Dance instructors, students will learn cheers as well as poms choreography weekly in this upbeat class. They will learn 3-4 new cheers weekly, work on form, as well as add on to their poms dance routine. The last day of the class will be parents’ watch day where they will do a short performance.

Roblox Coding and Game Design

Day: Tuesday

Bring your game ideas to life in Roblox! We’ll guide you through the lifecycle of game development; you’ll sketch out an idea, design your game, and complete a fnished product! You’ll use the Lua programming language to create in Roblox’s 3D design studio while mastering real-world programming concepts. Whether you’re completely new to coding or a master, Roblox’s game design engine offers some incredibly fun challenges. We offer a unique and collaborative approach to programming and game design that will allow kids to develop their creativity while fostering an interest in practical skills. No Class: Nov 21

Coding and Game Design with Scratch, Python, and JavaScript

Come code with Athena! Our unique projectbased class is designed to allow young students to develop their creative storytelling or game designing abilities, and then gives them the opportunity to bring them to life using MIT’s block-based Scratch, and Python through Minecraft Educational. Students have a blast, and learn plenty of professional programming practices, like how to use binary operators, conditional statements, sequencing and commenting practices, and loops. This class is run by professional yoga instructors from Chicago Loves Dance. In this class, kids will learn beginning yoga movements, terms, and yoga based games to make learning fun. Yoga in childhood is wonderful for improving listening skills, building self-esteem and supporting social and emotional learning.

Peace Yoga

Day: Monday

Peace Yoga is the perfect combination of basic stretches, yoga postures, breath work, meditation and relaxation all geared to create harmony within the mind, body and spirit. It promotes healthy internal organ functions and smooth energy circulation withing all systems of the body. Yoga movements are designed to stretch and tone muscles, loosen stiff joints, help correct poor posture, improve balance and leave you feeling agile and refreshed.

Soccer Skills Enrichment

Day: Monday

Participants engage in an up-tempo gamelike atmosphere where they develop team play and footwork. Games will be held at the end of every class with a focus on control, possession, and spacing. Players will be introduced to fundamentals and skill maneuvers that will help enhance their overall game. No Class: Nov 20

L.I.S.A. Soccer

Day: Thursday

Led by professional coaching staff, the goal of the clinic is to help players of all levels improve their game in a fun and safe atmosphere that stresses respect and sportsmanship. Youth will be taught the fundamentals of soccer, as well as technical and tactical skills through drills. Players will be challenged physically and mentally and remain active throughout the program.

Back to School Series

Day: Monday

Get ready to kick off the school year with an evening of sports! Our back-to-school sports series offers a variety of activities that promote ftness, teamwork, and fun. Participants can choose from Basketball, Volleyball, Flag Football and Nerf Battle. Practice new skills, work on strategy, and play exciting games that test your abilities through friendly competition. This series is a great way to stay active and make new friends as the school year begins.

Basketball Skills 101

Day: Wednesday

Develop early basketball skills such as shooting, dribbling and passing, along with the basic rules of the game. Family Basketball Skills & Contests

Day: Saturday

Join us for a fun and active event perfect for families who love sports and want to improve their basketball skills. Participants can practice dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense in a variety of drills and challenges. Then put your new skills to the test in exciting games like one-on-one, three-on-three, and knockout. With friendly competition and teamwork, this event is a great way to bond with your family while getting some exercise and having fun. Grab your sneakers and join us on the court for a slam-dunk of a time!

Forever Fitness Drop-In Senior Exercise

This class focuses on four types of exercise: strength, balance, endurance, and stretch. Strength exercises build muscle and increase metabolism that aids in keeping weight and blood sugar in check. Balance exercises increase heart rate and breathing. No advance registration needed, drop-in and pay at the door.

Stefani Prime is a collaborative effort between famed restaurateur Phil Stefani, his wife Karen (owner of Inspired Catering & Events), and their children Gina and Anthony Stefani, the next generation of the Stefani restaurant group. An extremely personal project, the Stefani’s have a long connection with Lincolnwood as Karen grew up there and the Stefani’s purchased their home in Lincolnwood in 1985. You can register for programs at lincolnwoodil.org — it’s fast and easy! Simply enter your username, password, and follow the user-friendly directions. Not sure of your login information? AFTER-HOURS DROP OFF REGISTRATION

Place your completed registration form in a sealed envelope in the 24-hour brown drop box located in the front of the Municipal Complex in the circular drive. Checks and credit cards only. Make checks payable to the Village of Lincolnwood.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

Registration forms are processed on a frst-come, frst-serve basis. To register for a class you must complete a registration form including participant name and program code number(s). One family per registration form. All classes have minimums and maximums. Sign up a minimum of two weeks prior to the start of the class to avoid class cancellations.

REFUND POLICIES

The Lincolnwood Parks & Recreation Department is committed to providing high quality recreation programs and services. We want everyone to be satisfed with their recreation experiences. If you are not completely satisfed with our programs or services, please contact us as soon as possible.

GENERAL REFUNDS

General refunds will be granted when requested fve full working days before the start of a program. All refunds are subject to a 10% administrative fee and will be mailed in the form of a check within 4-6 weeks of your request.

WHAT HAPPENS ONCE A PROGRAM STARTS?

We understand that there may be a time when the program you registered for didn’t match your needs. If that is the case, we encourage you to share your feedback, ideas and suggestions for improvement as soon as possible. If we are unable to work through it together, we will refund you for all the classes not attended less a 10% administrative fee.

IN THE CASE OF ILLNESS, EMERGENCY, OR RELOCATION

Should you need to discontinue the program due to an illness, emergency, or relocation, we ask that you submit proof of relocation or a written medical explanation from a physician. Upon receipt, we will refund for all the classes not attended less a 10% administrative fee.

DEPARTMENT CANCELLATION

In the event a program does not meet minimum registration, the class may be canceled with full refunds issued.

BROCHURE ERRORS

Due the large amount of information included in each season brochure, errors may occur. There may be last minute changes in days and times of classes, registration requirements, and fees once the brochure has gone to print. You will be advised in a timely manner of any changes. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

PHOTO POLICY & VIDEO

Photographs and videos are periodically taken of participants while they are engaging in programs, special events, or enjoying the parks. Please be aware that these photos and videos may appear in local newspapers, Village publications, cable access program or on the Village website.

MAINE-NILES ASSOCIATION OF SPECIAL RECREATION (M-NASR)

Since 1972, M-NASR has provided and facilitated recreation programs and services for children, teens and adults with disabilities.

We are an extension of the park districts in Des Plaines, Golf-Maine, Morton Grove, Niles, Park Ridge, Skokie, and Lincolnwood’s Parks and Recreation Department.

M-NASR offers a wide range of recreation programming, both in person and virtual. Programs include athletics, adaptive sports, camps, cultural arts, social opportunities, special events and much more. M-NASR’s full time recreation staff have therapeutic recreation backgrounds and all programs are designed with the cognitive, psychological, social and physical needs of participants in mind.

M-NASR programs are offered throughout our member districts. M-NASR participants may register for all programs regardless of location and transportation is available to select programs.
