Dear Pallotti Football Family and Friends, High school football has a special place in America. I grew-up in the mid-west and even as a “so-so” running back I realized that there is a unique culture around high school football. Pallotti has great varsity teams in many sports and football certainly sets the standards for what we call “Pallotti Pride.” It is easy to point to titles and win/loss records to show success, but the deeper values that are instilled in our young men are really what make the football program outstanding. The high standards set fourth for character and integrity is what makes this program a true reflection of St. Vincent Pallotti’s mission for educating our youth. Coach “C”, Coach Messay, and their assistant coaches have set their priorities for our young athletes. Of course we like to win, but doing it the right way is what we are all about. Bringing Christian values and a work ethic into these young men’s lives will serve them well as adults. This program has all the right ingredients for success: the great dedication of the coaching staff, the dedicated players, and the supportive parents. We all are looking forward to a safe and great season. Sincerely,
Stephen J. Edmonds Principal

Department of Athletics
Welcome to St. Vincent Pallotti High School and the 2008 Football Season at Supplee Field at T. Howard Duckett Park. Tonight’s football game is the culmination of many hours of sacrifice, dedicated weight lifting and rigorous practice. Pallotti is proud of all the young athletes who represent their school, communities, and families. We are looking for an exciting season of competition and anticipate the best from all of our student athletes. We appreciate you attending tonight’s game and hope that you become a regular, not only for football, but for all of our athletic contests. Thank you for your support and for your enthusiastic participation as spectators. Attendance at St. Vincent Pallotti High School interscholastic athletic events entitles spectators to enjoy a competitive exhibition of skill in a Christian educational setting. Spectators, please give the student athletes positive encouragement and support. Show respect for opposing players, coaches and spectators. Please refrain from booing, taunting or intimidating the officials and opponents. Such behavior is unfriendly and unacceptable. Please respect the integrity and judgment of game officials; they are doing their best to promote the student athlete and the game. Be a positive representative of your school community. Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the game. Sincerely,
Steve E. Walker, CAA Athletic Director

Peace of Mind. Absolutely FREE.
Protect Your Car with the “Watch Your Car” Program Did you know that a vehicle is stolen in the United States every 20 seconds?
Is your vehicle a target for thieves? Make your car tough to steal.
More importantly, the majority of vehicles are stolen during night time hours. Thieves look for vehicles that can easily be stolen and resold quickly or stripped for parts. Your vehicle is one of your largest investments. So, what can you do?
Preventing auto theft is fairly easy. Lock your car, take the key, use an anti-theft device, and visit www.mdautotheft.org to learn more about effective anti-theft practices, and how the “Watch Your Car” program can involve law enforcement officials all across the United States in protecting your car.
Obtain some peace of mind...and protection. “Watch Your Car” is a voluntary program designed to deter auto theft...and it’s FREE to owners of vehicles in the State of Maryland. If you’re interested in protecting your investment and making your vehicle less attractive to thieves, you should know that police officers across the nation are ready to Watch Your Car.

Dear Pallotti Football team, This year has been declared by the Catholic Church as the “Year of St. Paul”. Traditionally this would be St. Paul’s two thousandth birthday. One thing that I like about St. Paul is that he many times equates the spiritual life as training as an athlete. In Timothy 2:2 Paul writes: You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. 3. Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs—he wants to please his commanding officer. 5. Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules. 6. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. 7. Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.
So Paul is saying is that in order to be a good Christian we need to be F.A.S.T.! We have to have the attributes of a: Farmer: Willing to work hard…Notice how farmers get up early…work long hours and patiently till the soil. Are we like this with our spiritual lives? Athlete: Be disciplined…The word that Paul uses for athlete in Greek is “Professional Athlete”…He is saying that with our faith we can’t be like a “weekend warrior” that plays just during the weekend…but trains every day. Professional athlete’s take little time off for training. They are always in the weight room working on their game. Paul is saying that if we are serious about getting to Heaven we can’t take time off from praying and worshipping our Lord. We have to always be working on our game and fine tuning our souls in Confession. Soldier: A solider is trained to be obedient. In a culture that does not believe in absolute truth we need to stay faithful to the Holy Father and the teachings of our Mother the Church. Chaos happens in the battlefield and on the sports field when men are not obedient to the General or their coach. We need to be obedient to God and strive to live his commandments…. Teacher: We can’t just learn our faith. We have to give it to others! Have you ever noticed when you teach something that you learned on the field to another, you get better and have a deeper understanding of that component of the game? Pope John Paul II said: “Faith is strengthened when it is given to others…” So BE FAST this year, on and off the field! May God be with you in the 2008 football season!

Life is a Journey…
Don’t let auto theft drive you to jail. You’ve worked hard to get where you are. Your future is bright - full of possibilities, opportunities, and rewards. But, if you steal a car in Maryland, you’re headed for a detour you just don’t want to take. Even if you are a passenger in a stolen car, you could be putting your future at risk. Think before you make a big mistake. Think about the effect your actions will have on others. When you steal a car it affects your family, your school, and your community - as well as the victim. We’re talking about your reputation. If you choose to add auto theft to your list of accomplishments, everyone who is important to you goes along for the ride...down. Bottom line? Auto theft is not worth the risk - to everyone. You hold the key to your future. Don’t let it include auto theft.

If you drive a car, protect it. Preventing auto theft is fairly easy. Lock your car, take the key, use an anti-theft device and visit www.mdautotheft.org to learn about effective anti-theft practices, and the “Watch Your Car” program.

Apostolic Prayer of
St. Vincent Pallotti April 21, 1795 - January 22,1850 Eternal Father, it is your will that all should be saved. Great is your mercy. Your Son, Jesus Christ died for all. Teach all people to recognize you and love you. With deep faith in Christ's death and resurrection we pray: Send Forth, O Lord, laborers into your vineyard and spare your people. Eternal Word, Redeemer of all creation, convert all souls to you. You have been obedient for all, even to death on the cross. Look upon the merits of your Mother and of all the angels and saints who intercede for us. Send forth, O Lord, laborers into your vineyard and spare your people. O Holy Spirit, through the infinite merits of our Lord, Jesus Christ, enkindle in all hearts your ardent love that can do all things, that all may be one fold and one shepherd, and that all may arrive in heaven to sing your divine mercy. Queen of Apostles and all the angels and saints, pray to the Lord of the harvest: Send forth, O Lord, laborers into your vineyard and spare your people, that united with you, and the Father and the Holy Spirit, we may all rejoice forever. Amen. Source: www.catholic-forum.com/saints/pray0300.htm
