Fall 2007
Dear Pallotti Football Family and Friends, High school football has a special place in America. I grew-up in the mid-west and even as a “so-so” running back I realized that there is a unique culture around high school football. Pallotti has great varsity teams in many sports and football certainly sets the standards for what we call “Pallotti Pride.” It is easy to point to titles and win/loss records to show success, but the deeper values that are instilled in our young men are really what make the football program outstanding. The high standards set fourth for character and integrity is what makes this program a true reflection of St. Vincent Pallotti’s mission for educating our youth. Coach “C”, Coach Messay, and their assistant coaches have set their priorities for our young athletes. Of course we like to win, but doing it the right way is what we are all about. Bringing Christian values and a work ethic into these young men’s lives will serve them well as adults. This program has all the right ingredients for success: the great dedication of the coaching staff, the dedicated players, and the supportive parents. We all are looking forward to a safe and great season. Sincerely,
Stephen J. Edmonds Principal

Department of Athletics
Welcome to St. Vincent Pallotti High School and the 2007 Football Season at Supplee Field at T. Howard Duckett Park. Tonight’s football game is the culmination of many hours of sacrifice, dedicated weight lifting and rigorous practice. Pallotti is proud of all the young athletes who represent their school, communities, and families. We are looking for an exciting season of competition and anticipate the best from all of our student athletes. We appreciate you attending tonight’s game and hope that you become a regular, not only for football, but for all of our athletic contests. Thank you for your support and for your enthusiastic participation as spectators. Attendance at St. Vincent Pallotti High School interscholastic athletic events entitles spectators to enjoy a competitive exhibition of skill in a Christian educational setting. Spectators, please give the student athletes positive encouragement and support. Show respect for opposing players, coaches and spectators. Please refrain from booing, taunting or intimidating the officials and opponents. Such behavior is unfriendly and unacceptable. Please respect the integrity and judgment of game officials; they are doing their best to promote the student athlete and the game. Be a positive representative of your school community. Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the game. Sincerely,
Steve E. Walker, CAA

Dear Pallotti football team, I am very honored to be the chaplain for the Pallotti football team this fall. Sports have always been a very big part of my life. I played College baseball for the University of Dallas, and loved every moment of the competition, practicing, (excluding running drills), and fraternity with my team. I remember one line that my coach, Coach Viladed, used to say to us all of the time to get us motivated: “The only person that you are cheating, when you don’t give your all is yourself.” The same holds true in our journey towards God and giving God his due. I recently started training for boxing again (we had a boxing club while I was in the seminary), and throughout the strenuous workout that the trainer was putting me through I thought about the words of St. Paul: Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it. Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable one. So I do not run aimlessly, nor do I box as though beating the air; but I punish my body and enslave it, so that after proclaiming to others I myself should not be disqualified. (1 Corinthians 9: 24-27) What is St. Paul saying? Gentlemen he is saying that we are to sacrifice all for our eternal destiny: Heaven. Imagine…You could be the greatest football player of all time; make tons of money; be famous, etc. but all is lost if we did not care for our soul and did not make it to the “Big Show”, Heaven. We have to put the same discipline and care for our souls as we do for our bodies to prepare for the season. We have to fight against any of our passions that can lead us into sin. Sometimes this takes a little pain and saying no. One saint said, a good Christian learns to say “No.” Just as an athlete needs to sacrifice time and live with some pain to attain his goal, the same is true to become a saint. We need to spend time in prayer, get to Mass on Sundays, and get to know the Lord. Now, you are not going to win all the battles in the spiritual life, just as your not always going to have the greatest game. Yet, through the grace of God and the mercy we receive from Jesus in the sacrament of Reconciliation, we call all win the war! What separates the men from the mice is how a man deals with fear and failure. A man who trusts in the Lord can get up after a fall and try again. May God bless you all this season and may you all play for the glory of God. Let us all fight for the imperishable wreath which God has prepared for those who fight for Him!

Peace of Mind. Absolutely FREE.
Protect Your Car with the “Watch Your Car” Program Did you know that a vehicle is stolen in the United States every 20 seconds?
Is your vehicle a target for thieves? Make your car tough to steal.
More importantly, the majority of vehicles are stolen during night time hours. Thieves look for vehicles that can easily be stolen and resold quickly or stripped for parts. Your vehicle is one of your largest investments. So, what can you do?
Preventing auto theft is fairly easy. Lock your car, take the key, use an anti-theft device, and visit www.mdautotheft.org to learn more about effective anti-theft practices, and how the “Watch Your Car” program can involve law enforcement officials all across the United States in protecting your car.
Obtain some peace of mind...and protection. “Watch Your Car” is a voluntary program designed to deter auto theft...and it’s FREE to owners of vehicles in the State of Maryland. If you’re interested in protecting your investment and making your vehicle less attractive to thieves, you should know that police officers across the nation are ready to Watch Your Car.

Life is a Journey…
Don’t let auto theft drive you to jail. You’ve worked hard to get where you are. Your future is bright - full of possibilities, opportunities, and rewards. But, if you steal a car in Maryland, you’re headed for a detour you just don’t want to take. Even if you are a passenger in a stolen car, you could be putting your future at risk.
If you drive a car, protect it. Preventing auto theft is fairly easy. Lock your car, take the key, use an anti-theft device and visit www.mdautotheft.org to learn about effective anti-theft practices, and the “Watch Your Car” program.
Think before you make a big mistake. Think about the effect your actions will have on others. When you steal a car it affects your family, your school, and your community - as well as the victim. We’re talking about your reputation. If you choose to add auto theft to your list of accomplishments, everyone who is important to you goes along for the ride...down. Bottom line? Auto theft is not worth the risk - to everyone. You hold the key to your future. Don’t let it include auto theft.

INTERNET ADVERTISING WORKS! The internet combines the strength of print and television advertising – text and graphics plus sound and moving pictures – while eliminating time and space limitations. Unlike traditional media, the internet is interactive, making it a costeffective, one-to-one marketing tool. Even if you do not advertise elsewhere, online advertising’s share in the media mix can have a significant increase in the effectiveness of an overall ad campaign. We are the only Maryland-based and Maryland-specific search engine. Only local businesses and organizations can be found on our site. Our directory and database can be searched statewide, by county or city, by category, and by key words or phrases so you can be found easily by potential customers. Advertising with Marylandinfo.com is easy. We will discuss your goals and objectives and place you where you will be found by the right people at the right time. And, since we can create custom packages specific to your needs, we can target the right demographic more effectively than anyone else.

St. Vincent Pallotti April 21, 1795 - January 22,1850 Eternal Father, it is your will that all should be saved. Great is your mercy. Your Son, Jesus Christ died for all. Teach all people to recognize you and love you. With deep faith in Christ's death and resurrection we pray: Send Forth, O Lord, laborers into your vineyard and spare your people. Eternal Word, Redeemer of all creation, convert all souls to you. You have been obedient for all, even to death on the cross. Look upon the merits of your Mother and of all the angels and saints who intercede for us. Send forth, O Lord, laborers into your vineyard and spare your people. O Holy Spirit, through the infinite merits of our Lord, Jesus Christ, enkindle in all hearts your ardent love that can do all things, that all may be one fold and one shepherd, and that all may arrive in heaven to sing your divine mercy. Queen of Apostles and all the angels and saints, pray to the Lord of the harvest: Send forth, O Lord, laborers into your vineyard and spare your people, that united with you, and the Father and the Holy Spirit, we may all rejoice forever. Amen. Source: www.catholic-forum.com/saints/pray0300.htm
