Letter from the President
Reignited
From the President
As President of the Board of Directors, I would like to officially welcome you to the 42nd season of the Kansas City Corporate Challenge.
It’s amazing to see the continued support that you and your companies provide that have allowed us to become the largest and oldest corporate games in the country since our initial season in 1980. What started with 18 companies and 1,500 participants has grown into 225 teams and over 33,000 participants…well in non-COVID years! I’m excited that you are a part of this slightly altered season and cannot wait to see how each of you Reignite that KCCC torch! I have been involved with KCCC for the past seven years and am entering my sixth year on the Board of Directors. Serving as a Company Coordinator for 5 years, I know the commitment each employee has in contributing to your organization’s success throughout the Games and the pride that each participant has in representing their respective companies. Watching coworkers and companies come together to promote wellness and camaraderie in friendly competition across the KC Metro is truly an amazing experience. Not to mention, where else can you compete with 30,000 fellow Kansas Citians! I would like to thank our presenting sponsor, PNC Bank, and all of the companies who have signed on as a sponsor in 2021. you can find the list of sponsors on page 2 of this Games magazine and will see them at various events throughout the season. Now more than ever, sponsors at every level allow us to continue to present the Games successfully each year and I’m truly thankful for their support. Thank you to the KCCC Ambassadors. Ambassadors are the eyes and ears of the Board and provide valuable feedback throughout the season. They work with the Board on events from early morning set-up to late night teardowns and any other task that is needed. Ambassadors also partner with new Company Coordinators to answer any questions during their first year with KCCC. Another crucial piece to the success of the Games are the volunteers. Volunteers provide support from check-in to keeping score and everything in between. Without your company’s volunteers, KCCC would be near impossible to put on and certainly would not be ran as smoothly. I’m excited to announce our partnership with a new beneficiary for 2021, Cornerstones of Care. It has been great learning about and working with this amazing organization and we are beyond excited for this new partnership. The KCCC Board of Directors are among the most passionate KCCC fans I know. These individuals live and breathe KCCC and work throughout the year to plan and administer the Games to ensure each participant has the best experience possible. They have never wavered in their dedication to ensuring we present the safest version of the Games. It’s been inspiring working “virtually” alongside each of them throughout this pandemic and I thank them for the countless hours they contribute to ensure that KCCC continues to evolve and build on our strong 40+ year foundation. On behalf of the KCCC Executive Director, administrative staff, Johnson County Park and Recreation District, and the 2021 Board of Directors and Ambassadors, thank you for your involvement and dedication to KCCC and we look forward to seeing each of you Reignite in 2021!
Jason Robertson, President, Board of Directors
