The Garfield Heights City Schools asks you to...

To Prevent More Cuts in the Future...

The Garfield Heights City Schools has placed an operating levy on the ballot for November that will generate $3.9 million annually for district operating costs. If passed, Issue 7 will cost the average homeowner in Garfield Heights only an additional $20 each month. Read below to learn more:

What the Schools Have Done

Cut $2.1 million from the budget for this year.

Cut $2.3 million from last year’s budget.

Operated on the same voter-approved operating money since 1992.

Eliminated more than 70 staff members (a 15% total reduction) during the last two years.

Eliminated administrative positions to cut costs.

Increased administrator health care/prescription contributions.

Frozen employee wages.

What the Schools will Continue to Do

Work with Superintendent Linda Reid to streamline district operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

Support Superintendent Linda Reid in developing a 5-Year Strategic Plan.

Continue to engage the community and relevant stakeholders.

What the Schools will Do When a Levy Passes

Suspend $50 student fee for students K – 8.

Adopt a minimal “pay-to-participate” policy for sports and extra-curricular activities.

Implement all day Kindergarten.

Offer after school childcare at elementary buildings.

Reduce class sizes at all levels.

Offer more advanced courses at the high school.

(Current course levels limit post graduation opportunities for our students).
