School of Education and School of Education and Teacher Preparation Teachers are the role models of the world, challenged every day to meet the needs of children.

To learn how to meet these diverse needs, students are out in real-world P-12 classroom environments every week—not just during the capstone practicum—learning, planning, and teaching.

Our program includes other things not commonly found, such as a cohort-based learning community— a maximum of 30 students moving through four semesters together; teacher candidates attending professional development seminars in addition to the courses they complete each semester; seminars taught by public school colleagues covering education information that they commonly present to new teachers in their school districts; and drilling down into educational issues within the context of our local schools. Additionally, teacher preparation is viewed as a shared responsibility of the entire faculty of the College to assure that teacher candidates posses strong content knowledge of the subjects and effective teaching strategies.

Our learning environment is synergistic, preparing top-notch new teachers with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to become teacher leaders in today’s schools.

Go Mariners!

The College of Coastal Georgia athletic department features ten varsity teams with men’s and women’s soccer and baseball coming soon. The Mariners compete as a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference with opponents across the southeast, from Georgia and South Carolina to Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

You can't think about the Golden Isles without thinking about golf. The Mariner golf teams compete on some of the finest courses and practice facilities in the country, including the world-renowned Sea Island resort.
