Firmwareupdates
To run a firmware update, the latest version of the NovaStar Nova LCT Software needs to be installed on the used computer. Furthermore, you need the suitable firmware files for your series. You find both on our homepage under “Buy LED Wall”. Click on the according series and select the downloads.
Prerequisites for working with Nova LCT: •
Install the Nova LCT software, if not already done. You find the installation file on our homepage. Run the installation completely to make sure that the USB drivers are being installed as well. Download the necessary RCFGX-files from our homepage as well and unzip them. You find the according files under the tab “Buy LED Wall”. Select the series and the file under “Downloads”.
Note: the Nova LCT software is only available for Windows. •
Make sure you have a working connection between your computer and the sending card resp. the controller (e.g. NovaStar VX6S) and the receiving card of the LED cabinets.
Note: in this manual we are working with a USB connection. Running a firmware update Step 1: Unzip the downloaded firmware-file. Open the Nova LCT software and log in under: “User” > “Advanced User login” (password: admin). Make sure all devices are connected. “Control Systems” needs to be followed by at least a “1” (with more devices of course a number that corresponds with the number of devices). If a “0” is displayed, there is no connection between computer and controller. In this case, check the USB-connection between the devices. Should there be no obvious problem, make sure that the USB-driver of the program was installed correctly. If this does not solve the problem, reinstall the program and make sure that the installation of the USB drivers has also been completed.

Step 2: Enter the number code “666888”. For this, you do not select a text box, but simply leave the program open. Now a new winow appears. Click on “Refresh” and like this, the status of the receiving cards is displayed.

If the firmware is identical for all receiving cards, an update is not mandatory. In particular it is important, that all cabinets of an LED wall work with the same firmware so that there will not be any differences in brightness or colour.

Fig. 3. Receiving card not on the same level Step 3: If the receiving cards are not on the same level (see above), update the firmware. Therefore, click on “Browse”. A new window opens, here you can select the firmware folder. Confirm with “OK”.
Fig. 4. Selecting the file for the firmware update Note: The firmware file folders now have different names according to the series. The folders for the P4+WH Pro are indicated with “A8s”. Step 4: Now click on “Update”. Another window opens; here you can select if all or only particular receiving cards should receive the update. Select accordingly and confirm. If everything works, the note “successful program updating” is displayed. Note: In addition to the firmware update, it is necessary for many processes to install the RCFGX-files once again. You find a manual for this in chapter 7 of the user manual of the P4+WH Pro: “Programming an LED wall” under section 4.
