Now in its 12th year, the Jewelers’ Choice Awards remains the only honor in the industry that is voted on exclusively by retail jewelers. It’s a rare opportunity to see which pieces the retailers find both beautiful and salable. As you’ll see in the many categories ahead, there are so many innovative standout pieces in this year’s contest. As always, we are impressed and gratified by the quantity of entries and number of retailer votes we receive. Congratulations to Mizrahi of Beverly Hills whose bespoke pink diamond ring won this year’s grand prize. Kudos also go to the brands who won multiple awards, including Belle Étoile, Paula Crevoshay, and Malo Creations. In addition to the award winners, check out “JCK’s 5 Faves: 2019 Editors’ Picks” on page 4. It is always fascinating to compare the editorial team’s expert eye for style with that of the retailers. Los Angeles brand Anye Designs makes the coolest cluster rings: beautifully assembled collections of mixed-cut stones, artfully arranged to provide a maximum burst of color. Thanks to those gorgeous oval-, round-, and marquise-shape blue-green tourmaline and a few judiciously placed emerald accents—not to mention the diamonds—this one-of-a-kind Havana ring practically glows. And it’s a bargain to boot: 2.37 cts. t.w. in 14k white gold for only $2,500. What a gem!

I fell in love with this bracelet at the 2019 AGTA Spectrum Awards editor’s day last summer. Designer Yehouda Saketkhou’s well-executed Toi & Moi motif is becoming one of his most recognizable signatures in addition to an unfettered love of colored gems. These two traits make a stunning display in this piece, which feels like a mini monument to the allure of opals. I like that it’s a twofer— two superb examples of the most coveted opals in the world presented in the same design. There’s also something so decadent and luscious about the amorphous stone shapes, yet that very quality makes the ring feel cool, modern, and everyday wearable.

What I love about designer Rosa Van Parys’ sexy earrings is that she doesn’t let that fact get in the way of her fierce, edgy vision. These danglers are anything but demure, and I adore them for it!
