World Wetlands Day is observed on 2 February to raise awareness about the need to conserve wetlands, emphasize their importance in the ecosystem and the role they play in climate change mitigation.

What are wetlands ?

According

to

the

Ramsar

Convention,

wetlands

comprises

both

natural

and

man-made

sites

including lakes, swamps, marshes, mangroves, salt pans, tidal flats and reservoirs.

On this day we JCI Vizag organized Migratory Bird walk to our JCI Vizag Family and also a few public. Participants witnessed more than 60 species of

birds

during this season at wet lands (Meghadrigedda downstream channel) Port road , Visakhapatnam.

Order of Precedence and Head Table Seating Poster Launch 04 February 2022 - Training Order of Precedence and Head Table Seating are two important aspects of protocols followed by us during meetings. JCI Vizag - JCI Resources Team created a poster to showcase the same with hierarchy from LO Officer up to JCI President. Head table seating is also shown visually.

First General Body Meeting 06 February 2022 - Management First GB meeting was conducted on 6th Feb 2022 virtually over Zoom. Total of eighteen members including LGB members and advisors have attended the general body meeting.

A few important and key decisions were taken after detailed deliberations, that lasted for more than 4 hours.

Grocery Donation for Cancer Patients was conducted on 16 Feb 2022 at Patients House, Jalaripeta. The members JFM S Ravi Kanth Reddy, JC HGF Venkatesh Sappagaddi, JC Rajeev Varma, JC Chaitanya Vasanthavada attended and was 6 hours long. Grocery Donation for Cancer Patients was about donating groceries to the Cancer patients who were in need.

Groceries was donated to 2 patients who were T. Poliraju and P. Pydimma. Our Officers spoke to the families during the program and identified that this particular area of people are completely dependent on fishing and it is the only source of income. Officers are also working on finding out if there are any other issues people living in that particular area are facing. Our officers identified that there is a lot more we can do for this people. Our officers found out one of the families and have donated as they were unable pay for the school fee for the children, though they are studying in Govt. School.

Automated Certificate Creation and Mailing Workshop 17 February 2022 - Training An online session was organized to train people on what are the option available to created automated certificate creation and emailing. Certify'm and Autocrat tools were discussed and Autocrat was demonstrated to all participants. Towards the end of the 90 minutes workshop some of the participants followed the steps mentioned in the training, generated and shared the certificated they generation through automation.

Dental awareness seminar happened at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Waltair on 24th Feb 2022. Oral diseases

have

been

a

persistent

public

health

problem

globally,

with

every

individual

experiencing poor oral health at least once in a lifetime. Children who have cavities in milk teeth are more likely to have cavities in their permanent teeth. Growing children need proper guidance for

healthy

growth,

upkeep

and

hygiene

of

their

teeth.

As

an

attempt

towards

this,

we

conducted an Oral hygiene awareness seminar where brushing techniques, good oral habits were demonstrated. Classes 6th , 7th , 8th , 9th with around 400 students were enlightened by four

JFM S Ravi Kanth Reddy rendered his voluntary services as amateur radio operator during Milan 2022, to Visakhapatnam Police - he volunteered for a static point.

Role of Social Media in Community Service - JC Chaitanya Vasanthavada In the recent past social media has become an inevitable part of the daily lives, which spread the news rapidly. Community Service news and the request for help is one such category of news.

There are number of NGO’s who does service to public by identifying the right persons in need.

These NGO’s use social media to let the public know that they are helping an individual or a group for a certain cause. I take this social media posting on a positive note based on my personal experience.

During COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown, I have seen many youngsters who took initiative and helped the needy. The coordination and teamwork they did is indefinable and social media is what helped them to do this. Some of them did the service voluntarily by looking at the posts in social media.

At the time of Gas Leakage in one industry, social media played an important role in passing the information and people could react immediately based on this news. Many provided food for those who are affected. People from areas which are prone to effect could go to a safer place.

People from non-affected areas could render their service by helping others. There are certain posts which create a hesitation in common man’s approach towards helping others, though he is willing to. A few examples of such are.

Sharing a certain post gives a penny for the needy. A common man’s thought towards this is “How can does this happen? Is this true? Even if we did, will the help reach the required person”.

Receiving a phone call, that we need donation for a child’s surgery. There are some people who donated based on these calls. Some of them have stopped donating after getting repeated calls.

I would say Sharing a post will not cost you anything. If you are willing to help and do not trust the enquiries for help, look out in your neighborhood, there are people who need to food, who need shelter, who need education.

The sort of shares and posts inspire people and motivate them. By looking at such news, people are getting to know that some community services are happening, and they are thinking about how they can help others, they are asking how they can be a part of the service, they have been looking after the people around them. Many youngsters are learning on how to interact with others and create an impact in the society.

Social Media is the right way for community service organizations to share information about

their

activities,

interact

and

engage

with

the

individuals

and

it

is

the

right

platform for the people to know about the services happening and act upon their interest.
